Reflections on Light and Darkness

"Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people." (Isaiah 60:1-2) We are living in a time of darkness; an age of chaos; of lost-ness and moral confusion. This 'truth' we knew - was driven home by the events in Belgium. Islam is biting the hand that welcomed them. But in some sense, the countries of the EU are at least somewhat complicit in allowing – even promoting the conditions from which the terror grew. Faced with anemic population growth, Europe opened its door decades ago to the Muslim population to fill an economic need. And when they came, they did not assimilate. They lived in communities that were – by choice – socially segregated. These became the famous no-go zones where even police rarely dare tread – and morphed from there into the breeding grounds of radical terrorists, willing to fill the ranks of al-Qaeda and ISIS; willing to die for a paradise they will ... But while the world may be ready at some level to accept the notion of signs and wonders, - miraculous cures etc, - if you will, - the notion of man that conquers the grave, - that rises up from the dead, - is a little to fantastic to believe. Or is it? Is this the final confirming and convincing evidence of God’s power? We’ll look at the evidence. HE GOT UP ! What we know to be true for his many public miracles, would certainly hold true for the greatest sign of all, His resurrection from the dead. If God exists: Miracles are possible! And the Resurrection is the touchstone of the Christian faith. If Christ did not rise from the dead, Christianity is a meaningless exercise in good morals. The validity of Jesus’ very message hinges on the truthfulness of that claim. Paul expanded on this in a letter to the Corinthian church. “And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith….And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still ... Yeah…..there’s Good News……

Educators in Public Schools Learning How to Express Their Faith With New Boldness - The Christian Educators Association International is an organization that sees the nation’s public schools as “the largest single mission field in America,” reports the Washington Post.  The association trains teachers how to be a light in schools without infringing on the Constitution’s ban on promoting any particular religion.  Teachers can pray with colleagues during breaks, they can pray with a student at the student’s request after work hours, and they can also hold before and after school religious clubs for students.  Charles C. Haynes, a First Amendment expert…says the association is not violating the law.  “The First Amendment does not exclude religion from public schools,” he said.  “It gives us the ground rules for how religion comes into public schools.”  The Constitution says that government cannot establish religion, but it also says that the government cannot inhibit religious freedom.  ... It is no secret that this is how things operate.  Ordo ab chao is the Latin motto attributed to Freemasonry that translates as order from chaos.  President Obama’s former Chief of Staff put it this way in 2009, right in the midst of the debate on the trillion dollar bailout package.  “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”[i]  I guess it’s even better if you can create the crisis…….say…Saul Alinsky talked about in Rules for Radicals.  And so that brings us to Chicago and the anti-Trump protests.  There’s more than something fishy going on.  And we don’t have to guess who’s behind it.  [But let me say right up front: This is not an endorsement of Donald Trump.  I’m talking about the principal here.] What we are seeing here is an assassination of Constitutional freedom; an attempt to deny ‘The Donald’ his free speech rights guaranteed under the First Amendment.  In doing so, the ... We have reviewed the witness of fulfilled prophecy and history and the claims of His followers and of Christ Himself. But what of the many miracles attributed to this man from Galilee? Are these but legendary? Or could they be real evidence of the Divine? MIRACULOUS EVIDENCE This brings us to another compelling form of evidence for the divinity of Christ, his miracles. As noted by the testimony of Nicodemus, and the attitude of the authorities, the fact that Jesus could perform healings and signs was never challenged by his enemies. Having just witnessed the healing of two blind men and the casting out of a demon from a mute, they were amazed and challenged instead the source of his power. “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel….It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons.” (Matthew 9:28-33) Searching the ancient records, it was not unknown for rabbis to be able to perform exorcisms, or even successfully pray for rain. But it was the nature of Christ’s ... [More]
