We are a nation in rebellion. We are a nation that is under attack by an enemy that holds no allegiance to the TRUTH. BIG NEWS, lies to us on a daily basis, coloring their message in such a way as to advance their dark agenda. Facebook, Youtube and the like censor the posts of Christians and conservatives, in an attempt to financially starve any messages that stray from the globalist meme. All that surrounded the events at Charlottesville are themselves a big lie, designed to divide – and even instigate civil war. It is all about overturning the results of a fair and lawful election. We are a nation steeped in lies, and darkness, and racism, and violence….and moral confusion. Still there is hope. God has given us the map. It was modeled, in one case, by King Hezekiah of Judah. He was a new kind of leader in Israel and His reign molded a time of repentance resulting in restoration for the nation. We have that chance again….to repent, to turn from our sins, to seek the ways of God. If we do so He promises to restore us. He promises to heal our land.
PART III – THE ROAD BACK
I don’t know when I’ve heard so many calls for revival. They come from conservative Church leaders, pointing to the need for it as well as those called prophets, who predict its soon coming. There are parallel messages with the same tone, the same essence: Revival is on the door step. Whether it is or not will be shown by the coming of it. But it is something that is dearly needed. From what I can see in the Bible and in history as well, Revival is almost always birthed in a time of shaking; a time of crisis. So often the words of 2Chronicles 7:14 is quoted, giving us the formula and the call for revival. “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” But it is the verse before that sets the stage. “When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people.” It is a picture of the judgment of God upon a nation. And though the warning was meant first for Israel, its principle can be extended to those of us who have been grafted in; the people called by His name, the Church. And are we not a culture deserving of judgment? We have flaunted God’s laws – on marriage, on abortion just to name a few. This is almost inevitable as we live in a time of moral, social and material chaos. We have abandoned the Judeo-Christian traditions which for centuries served as the foundational bedrock of our culture. In its place we have embraced multi-culturalism, which at its heart, means no culture at all. So we are left with competing moral frameworks and no standard upon which we may stand. If you wanted to undermine a society in order to mold it into a new order, a better means could not be found. [And don’t’ think this is some kind of accident. This was planned from the beginning.] “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”
SIGNS of a CULTURE in FREE-FALL
We need only survey some of the current issues in the news to understand just where we stand today. Just a short time ago I looked at some headlines over about an two-and-a-half day period. Here’s what I found.

The chaotic headlines go on and on, in areas not even mentioned. We are a nation adrift. But when did it all start? Prayer was taken out of school in America in 1962 and from that point in time our moral decline accelerated. Fatherlessness rose, as did juvenile crime, out-of-wedlock births and the dropout rate. Then there is Roe v Wade. Since the Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973 we have legally put to death about 60 million babies. That is one heck of a satanic sacrifice. And we can’t forget the silent humanist revolution that seized control of the course of decades beginning in about the 1880’s. Dewey and his ilk tore down the edifice of our Judeo-Christian culture. Or we could turn to the founding of the Federal Reserve in 1913 to explain our fall. The value of the dollar has dropped over 90% since that time. (It remained essentially stable from the foundation of the Republic until the Fed came into being.) Or one could point to the plunging standards of public shame that has accompanied all of this. But these were all long-term. I would like to look at what happened just since September 11, 2001.
When the Towers fell that day, America was given a clear warning. Just like Israel was warned, and then conquered. And just like ancient Israel, we thumbed our nose at God, essentially ignoring the warning., Look at where we’ve come since 9/11. We’ve changed the definition of male and female. We’re in the process of changing the definition of what it means to be human. Science is in the process of giving us human / animal hybrids, human / machine hybrids. In a quest for eternal life they are seeking a way to plug our minds into the Cloud. Cannibalism is being promoted. We have ‘Spirit Cooking’ and a CNN host who ate human brains with a cannibal tribe in the South Pacific. And CNN thought it a good idea to air that broadcast!
New York Times best seller, Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn warns that any nation that has known God and then abandoned Him is racing toward judgement. We are a nation racing toward judgment.. We have known God since the days of our founding; since Jamestown and Plymouth and President Washington’s inauguration.. It was at the first inauguration, held in the temporary capital of New York City, right at Ground Zero that a prayer meeting broke out among our nation’s leaders. It was that same church, St Paul’s Chapel, that was the only building to survive the destruction of that day. Was that a signal from God that there is still time to repent? And we have strayed far since then. Yet through all of this, God’s heart is always calling us repentance. But he will use even judgement to bring us in; to bring us to the place we need to be. I believe revival is coming. But I believe that shaking comes first.
Now every revival starts stars as a spark in the hearts of individuals. It is fed by prayer inspired by God. • Have you ever gotten a glimpse of God? A peek at His Glory? A whiff of His presence? Maybe through the corner of one eye, a glimpse of the shadow of His reality? It penetrates to the Essence of your Soul; the c enter of your being. You realize that He is Holy beyond comprehension, set apart. You cannot stand in His presence. It all comes with a sense of awe and lostness and poverty of spirit. Isaiah had that moment. It was in his commissioning as a prophet of /God. “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one cried to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!’” (Isaiah 6:1-3)
Isaiah was seeing just who God is….getting a glimpse. This was NOT some ‘holy guy.’ He was just one of us….but willing to hear and to heed.. And he saw that God was not like us; that there was an infinite gap between the human and the Divine; a Perfect Being existing in a perfect state. And Isaiah reacted as the Bible records humans do in the presence of God. He became “undone.” He realized his sinfulness and the sin that populated the world in which he lived.
I had a moment when God showed me my sin, in an almost physical, visible way. It had this dark and shapeless presence that oozed corruption. There I was, exposed. Robbie Palaszewski liar…drunkard…luster….gossip. And there was God, Jesus….Perfect…“the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” Here was the Creator of all things…the Sustainer of all things….And thrones and dominions and powers and principalities do His bidding….because “in Him all things consist.” Then this same Christ took the “sin of the whole world. ‘For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.’” (2Corinthians 5:21) And God goes farther than that. He calls us, even me, the lusting drunkard and liar to work for Him; to partner with Him. Look at 2Corinthians 5:20. “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us.”
Therein lies the challenge. If we want to see revival, it must begin with us. We live in a time of chaos. There was a great revival in another time of chaos, before the outbreak of the American Civil War. It is not much noted in the history books, yet over a million souls gave their lives to Christ before it ended. One man, Jeremiah Lamphier was burdened with the task of starting a lunch time, businessman’s prayer meeting. It was 1857 and the nation was far from God and the economy was booming and the nation was on the edge of giant upheaval. That first meeting drew less than half-a-dozen and started over a half hour late. But the next one doubled, and it grew from there. Then the markets fell and it grew more. Instead of one day a week, it was going five days a week. It spread throughout Manhattan Then is spread to surrounding towns, up and down the coast and across the nation and to other countries. That revival filled the rolls of God’s Kingdom just on the eve of the War Between the States that would take the lives of so many. Lamphier had his assignment. And he obeyed. Now look what happen with Isaiah. After Isaiah is “undone” in the presence of God, God purges his sin, and Isaiah writes this in verse 8. “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us? Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” Isaiah had gone through the process. *Recognition of Sin *Repentance *Forgiveness *Restoration. So here is the challenge offered to all of us.
