“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” (Genesis 12:3) (God speaking to Abram / Abraham)
The joint press conference held by President Donald Trump Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu was a sharp departure from the contentious meetings held when President Obama was involved. The biggest take-aways of the meeting were first, that the US would once again have Israel’s back – and secondly, that the US may for the first time in 20 years, not be necessarily pushing for a two-state deal, which always meant that Israel would be forced to give away land. The President gently offered that he would like to see a stop to the settlements, but Netanyahu pushed back, saying that the settlement issue was “not the core of the conflict.” The Prime Minister instead laid out the two conditions necessary to achieve a peace accord. 1) The Palestinians must recognize the legitimacy of the State of Israel. They must stop calling for its destruction and teaching their children that Israel has no right to exist. 2) Israel must have “security control of the entire area,” right up to the Jordan River. Mr Trump pledged to work with Israel to ensure that Iran will “never” acquire nuclear weapons. The PM talked about how the Iranians claim that their missile program is not threat to any nation – and exposed that empty claim for the nonsense it is. Netanyahu revealed that written in Hebrew, right on the missiles, are the words: “Israel must be destroyed.” Bibi Netanyahu then finished off the public session, saying: “There is no greater support for Israel or the Jewish State than President Donald Trump.” It is good to be back on God’s team!
