Last time out we chronicled how following the two destructions of Jerusalem in the years AD 70 and 135 the Jewish character and influence in the Church declined severely.  The Church was open to change….and change it did.  PART VII – THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE FAITH A little history is necessary to set the framework.  The Church of the first century was organized around elders, (sometimes called bishops) and deacons.  One respected scholar states the historical consensus that no Church centers, - not even Rome or Corinth, - sported a single presiding bishop.  It was only over the course of the next couple of centuries that local elders began rising to the rank of presiding elder or bishop of a church, such as the one at Rome.  Over time, the East produced five “important Christian centers” including Alexandria, Jerusalem, Caesarea, Antioch and Constantinople.  In the West, there was only Rome.  Over time the struggle for ecclesiastical authority between these various bishoprics led to ...  Jesus held the Jews of His generation responsible because they willfully ignored the signs of the times they lived in.  He told them that they would face judgment “, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19:44)  That judgment came in AD 70 with the destruction of Jerusalem.  So too we are responsible to know the reality of the days in which we live and respond accordingly.  And what is the character of this time in which we live.  By looking at the prophetic signs found in scripture we can conclude that JESUS CHRIST IS LIKELY GOING TO RETURN IN THIS GENERATION!!!    PART II - A DAY OF JUDGMENT IS COMING !!! “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. OH THAT ‘RELIGION OF PEACE’ - The Religion of Peace recently had a very good week.  They’ve managed to help possibly 150 souls rest in peace…..or perhaps not so peacefully.  The Taliban slaughtered as many as 140+ unarmed Afghan military men as they left Friday prayers and headed to lunch.  Then there was the attack on Paris police by Karim Cheurfi launched right in the heart of the city, on the Champs Elysees.  ISIS took the credit for that baby.  Then there’s Fresno where Kori Ali Muhammad  gunned down three men in the city’s downtown area.  The AP reported that Muhammad yelled “God is great” when police took him into custody.  But that was just an attempt to sanitize it a bit….’cause we don’t want to unfairly paint Muslims as perpetrators of terror attacks.  What he really yelled out was “Allahu Akbar!”  Sort of puts a whole different feel to the thing, doesn’t it?  Well, as the Quran says: “So when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters, wherever you find them, and take ...
