NATO and Russia are both rushing toward war over the Ukraine. There’s a bit of history here that I will just quickly summarize as we have covered it in some detail over the last couple of weeks. Here’s the situation. In 2014, the CIA was part of an operation that chased Ukraine’s democratically elected – if Russian leaning – president from office. In his place a government was installed that was friendly to America & NATO. (See Issue #896 for more details) Now the US wants to make Ukraine a part of NATO, which operates as a defensive alliance protecting Europe. We also want to install missiles just minutes away from Russian nuclear missile sites. Should the US succeed in that, it would mean America could likely take-out Russian nuclear capabilities with a first strike. [That actually could motivate Russia to launch a first strike of its’ own. Complicating the situation is that portions of Ukraine are politically and ethnically Russian and there have been relatively low-level military confrontations going on for some time now. Both Russia and Ukraine have deployed around 100,000 troops to the border area.
So, Russia views Ukraine’s proposed membership in NATO – and the placing of missiles in that country, as an existential threat. On or around December 11, the US warned its’ European allies to prepare for an invasion of Eastern Ukraine.[i] On December 10, asked for assurances from the West that Ukraine would not be granted NATO membership. With out that assurance, Moscow warned it would have to take military action. The demands were hand-delivered to heads of state, like Joe Biden and the UK’s Boris Johnson. NATO immediately rejected those demands. Former Norwegian PM and now Secretary General of NATO answered, “Russia’s demand for security assurances from NATO, and other demands, are rejected.”[ii] That’s when tensions really started to ratchet up. Just days earlier, Senator Roger Wicker, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, had threatened Russia with a ground war and even speculated on the use of nuclear weapons.[iii] The Biden regime refused to back down on the nuclear threat.
Now, the US is moving military assets into the region. US and NATO forces are deploying in Eastern Europe. HTR reports, “Very quietly, the US began loading M1A1 and M1A2 Abrams Tanks onto Roll-On Roll-Off (RO-RO) vessels in the United States. It took about a week for the first of those ships to transit to Greece. Upon arrival, the tanks were unloaded. In the past two weeks, the United States has sent slightly more than 1,000 M1A1 or A2 Abrams tanks to southeastern Europe. They also sent between 35,000 and 45,000 U.S. Troops in the same time period.” As of a few days ago, the US had the equivalent of 3 armored divisions in place.[iv]
Russian counter-moves were swift. Moscow ordered 2 Strategic Nuclear Missile Complexes to “Combat Duty.” “Two missile regiments armed with Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) with Multiple Independent Re-Entry Vehicle (MiRV) nuclear warheads, will assume combat duty in the Russian Strategic Missile Force by the end of this year.”[v] On December 18, US M1A1 & M1A2 Abrams tanks were filmed crossing from Greece to Romania, transiting toward the area of Ukraine.[vi] The Moscow Times reported: “Russia’s state-controlled Gazprom slashed its gas supplies to Europe over the weekend, sending prices surging as the continent prepares for a week of sub-zero temperatures.”[vii] With the flow running at just 5% of capacity, the move will serve as political blackmail, forcing European nations to cut into their strategic energy reserves. The UK could be hit hard with its’ low level of reserves, while Italy has the largest cache stored up.[viii] This could certainly influence any NATO decision to admit Ukraine into the organization.
In addition, Russia has closed the northern sea route affecting trade between Europe and Asia. In addition they deployed “Radio Engineering Battalions” and radar jamming systems to “jam the US over-the-horizon missile radar detection grids. It is precisely the equipment necessary to reduce the functionality of our over-the-horizon radar to either “blind” those radar to incoming missiles, or to so degrade the effectiveness of those radar that, by the time they pick up an inbound ICBM, it’s too late.”[ix] Possibly, one of the most astounding aspect of this whole scenario is that VERY LITTLE OF THIS IS BEING REPORTED BY THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
