INTRODUCTION
“But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you. I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.” (John 5:42-43)
Every major religion on the planet is yearning for THEIR Messiah! And like no other time in history, there are factions in each that believe he is about to make his appearance. Christian, Jew, Muslim, New Age, the Eastern Religion…all await his coming. All but the Bible based belief-systems, (Christianity & Judaism), look forward to the arrival of One World Religion that will rule the planet. They name it differently; the Rule of the Mahdi, the Age of Aquarius. However it is named, it is depicted as a time of unity, when justice will prevail. But whose justice? Scripture warns us of this coming unified religion. It will be a false faith, and a forced faith. It will be ushered in by a great falling away from the true worship of God. It will have at its center the worship “the God of forces”, (energy perhaps?) and be headed by a worldwide religious figure known as the False Prophet. It will be ushered in by signs and wonders that will point to the divinity and headship of a man called the Antichrist. We will exploit the forces that are even today moving toward the establishment of this End Times Religion.
PART I – THE PRETENDERS
It is always a little sad to me when I think of the people that have come to view themselves as a messiah figure – an appointed savior of mankind. But yet, just about all of the world’s religions look forward to coming figure who will appear on earth to punish the wicked and generally set things right. We’ll look at just a few of these to get the flavor of what Jesus was talking about when He gave us that famous warning found in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ’, and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:4) “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Mark 13:22) To get a flavor of the thing I’ve just noted a few examples below.
Candidate # 1: The Rev Sung Yong Moon. During the latter part of his life, the controversial founder of the Unification Church and owner of the Washington Times believed no more waiting is necessary. The Messiah was already here on earth, – and coincidentally: It’s him! [Imagine the luck involved in that! You start out looking for the Messiah…..and it turns out to be you.] Back on March 23, 2004, at a ceremony in the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, a crown was placed on Moon’s head as he declared himself to be “humanity’s Savior, Messiah, Returning Lord and True Parent.” If you asked him he would tell you that he was “sent to earth…to save the world’s six-billion people.” Ask him, and he’ll list his accomplishments. That night he revealed that: “The founders of five great religions [Jesus included] and many other leaders in the spirit world, including … Marx and Lenin . . . Hitler and Stalin, have found strength in my teachings, mended their ways and been reborn as new persons.”[i] To sum up his mission: Jesus didn’t complete his work when he was on earth, – so God sent Rev Moon to finish the job.Candidate # 2: El Mahdi, the Islamic Messiah. Even a cursory study of news coming out of Iran and the Middle East reveals how Islam is looking for the imminent return of the 12th Imam, who went into “occlusion” (hidden by God) in the 9th century. He will return with a ‘Jesus’ the Islamists call Issa, who will deny his own divinity and serve as his disciple and assistant in the ‘Divine’ plan. That plan calls for the Mahdi to appear at the End of Days, following a time of war and chaos. (Interestingly, one Sunni Muslim website has declared that this Issa / Jesus figure will return in 2022. Another Iranian Grand Ayatollah believes that the Mahdi will arrive in a spaceship with the sound “of thunder and its power and speed is that of lightning.”)[ii] [iii] Whatever the case, many Muslims are already working to prepare the way for his appearance.[iv] The Islamic Messiah will first reveal himself in Mecca, then Medina, and all of Arabia will follow him. According to Islamic prophecy he will go on to conquer Syria and Iraq and utterly vanquish the Jewish State. A series broadcast on official Iranian radio says that the Madhi will eventually set up a “global government” in Kufa, Iraq. Part of his official mission will be to rid the world of Christians and of course… Jews…after which he will set up a government under Islamic law, veritably reeking with righteousness, compassion and justice…. as is the way of ‘The Religion of Peace.’[v]
Candidate # 3: The Lord Maitreya – OK, this is a complicated one. The ‘Lord Maitreya”, refers to the coming of the “Christ consciousness” that is to come in the form of an individual. He is the central figure of New Age thought; [vi]the 5th or Warrior Buddha. His followers believe he is alive and on earth already. His champion is an aging Englishman by the name of Benjamin Crème, who claims that Maitreya inhabited a body back in 1977 and has made many public appearances including one in Kenya in 1988. He is the chief of the Ascended Masters, a predicted product of the deeply occultic Theosophical Society founded by Madame Helena Blavatsky in the late 19th century. Blavatsky, Crème and one Alice Bailey, revealed their religious philosophies through “automatic writing”, while possessed by various Ascended Masters. These “Masters” are likely none other than the Fallen Angels of the Bible. The doctrine they teach is a complete reversal of the Truth found in the Scriptures. To their twisted way of thinking: God is the evil one, and Satan the “Light Bearer.” Madame Blavatsky writes: “Lucifer is divine and terrestrial light.” “Satan is the god of our planet, and the only god.”[vii] The Great Jehovah, the God of the Bible, she describes as “spiteful and revengeful.[viii]
Referring to the teachings of Crème & Bailey & Blavatsky, we find the outline to the Lord Maitreya’s anticipated career. He is to come on the scene during a time of economic and social chaos, – a time of crisis.[ix] He will teach that there is no sin and that we are in fact, – divine. A new worldwide religion will be instituted. Now when Maitreya reveals himself, someone called the Master Jesus will arise to take over the throne of St. Peter. As head of the Catholic Church, this new figure will seek to unite and transform Christianity in worshipping Maitreya, “to deceive, if possible, even the elect”. (Mark 13:22)[x] Interestingly, this closely parallels the predicted role of the Madhi, – Islam’s coming messiah. Finally, this 5th Buddha will make peace in the Middle East. In the process, he will isolate “fundamentalist” Christians and Jews, turning the world against those who hold to the truth of the Bible.[xi]
And there are others, including Tom Cruise, who some see as “Scientology’s christ-like figure,” the UK’s Prince Charles or Prince William, believed by some to be connected to the Davidian line through the Merovingian bloodline – established when, Mary Magdalene and Jesus escaped Palestine after the crucifixion and had children. [xii] Then there’s Sananda Immanuel: – He’s the ‘Jesus’ of the astral realm who was the supposed model for the painting by Michelangelo. The website beastprophets.com gives the following description. “Allegedly lives aboard the UFO-ship called the Capricorn and works in Utah which he considers the ‘New Zion.’” We can add to the list Sanat Kumera – who is just Satan himself, by another name, Lord Ashtar, who again is the Prince of Demons, with connections to the Illuminati Council. He serves as commander of an alien army through his role as chief of the Galactic Command. And Christ Michael, or Archangel Michael – The supposedly defecting warrior angel by that name.[xiii] And there’s just one more I will mention, Jose Luis de Jesus Miranda. Miranda is a serious candidate; – at least in his own mind. It was during a vision back in 1973 that “two hulking men” announced that the Lord had come and “integrated with” him. His ‘messiahship’ was a progressive office however. The former Catholic, Pentecostal and Baptist worked as a minister at first as he revealed God’s latest covenant. By 1998 he was the reincarnation of Paul. By 2000 he had named himself Christ and earlier this year he promoted himself to Antichrist, complete with a 666 tattoo.[xiv] [After all, you can’t worship the first Jesus anymore if the new one is already on the scene.] All of this would be somewhat comical if it were not for the following this man is drawing. The ‘New Jesus’ boasts over 300 congregations in several countries totaling up to about 100,000 followers.
The fact is it is very easy to see a theme here. There are many that are claiming that a messiah is here already or soon to return. With the exception of Islam, all seem to claim the same thing: There is no sin, we are all saved / divine, – all paths lead to God….if we will but recognize it. Our culture has even adopted that theme with its emphasis on hyper-tolerance. We are no longer to judge the value of ideas. It is even reinforced through the popular culture through such vehicles as George Lucas’s Star Wars which advanced an Eastern / Buddhist religious philosophy.[xv]
Even mankind’s great experiment at universal peace making and unity, the United Nations, has adopted that philosophy hosting occult organizations aimed at uniting all the religions of the planet. It went so far as to establish an International Day of Peace beginning back in 1982; – utilizing something called The Great Invocation, which was first channeled to Alice Bailey, the English Theosophist back in 1945 by her ‘familiar spirit’, a fallen angel going by the name of Djwhal Khul, the Tibetan Master.[xvi] (Bailey was the founder of the Lucifer Trust, which later became the Lucis Trust, which now has an office in the UN.) That prayer, – (put forth as the official prayer of mankind), – is but a thinly disguised call to Satan and his fallen angels, referred to as Masters, – to call on the world’s false messiah to reveal himself. The website of the Lucis Trust itself explains how the prayer is for “all humanity.” It is designed to unite the entire world as it looks for one man, known variously as “the Christ, the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Madhi, Bohidsattva, and the Messiah.”[xvii] It is the call to the One World Religion prophesied in the Book of Revelation. “And all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?’” (Revelation 13:3-4)
