Despite all that is happening, there is one overriding TRUTH in which we can take comfort. We serve a God that has defeated death. It may seem to fly in the face of human logic – but an unbiased examination of the evidence has led many the investigating skeptic to the ineluctable conclusion that Christ did indeed – RISE FROM THE DEAD. We’ve no space here to lay out all of that evidence – (though we will be covering it in our series on faith.) But here is a summary of just some of those points of evidence. These include: An Empty Tomb, A Roman Seal and Roman Guard, the recorded Post Resurrection Appearances to Hundreds, many by name, the Willingness of Witnesses to Die for their Belief that Christ had Risen – (despite the fact they would have nothing earthly to gain), the Existence of the Church – which could have been destroyed if Jesus’ body had been produced, and the fact that it was prophesied in the Old Testament and by Jesus Himself. The fact of the Resurrection is the centerpiece of our faith; that the God-Man Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, died for our sins and rose from that death to declare victory over death for all that would come to Him in faith. What a glorious offer. “And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless and you are still guilty of your sins. In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world. But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. (1Corinthians 15:17-21) (NLT)
