The week started off with a bang. Major attacks by Ukraine going deep into Russia against both civilian and military (including nuclear-capable targets.)
- Early reports stated Ukraine launched a massive drone attack against several bases housing Russia’s “strategic sources.” (Strategic means long-range nuclear.) There were claims that 41 Russian nuclear-capable bombers were destroyed. The story went like this. Ukraine secretly moved wooden mobile cabins – mounted on trucks – into Russia and hid them in plain sight. They were packed with drones. At a signal, the roofs were opened and the drones were released. Hundreds of drones headed to their targets as deep as 2,700 miles into Russia. Russian nuclear doctrine states that an attack on Russian strategic forces could justify a nuclear response.[i] Some sources claimed 50% of Russian bomber fleet was taken out.[ii]
- Ukrainian forces followed that up with another massive attack, this time on the capital of Moscow. There were multiple explosions that sowed panic among portions of the population. The Kremlin almost immediately began sending Emergency Action Messages. Zelensky and his close advisors moved to an undisclosed location. The Russian government talked of a “swift and merciless response.”[iii] Russian drone and rocket forces seemed to enter the preparation stage. With hypersonic missiles and the Oreshniks Moscow has a formidable array of almost indefensible weapons.
- This all happened as Ukraine and Russia prepared to meet in Turkey for peace talks. Ahead of those talks, Zelensky’s government presented its demands. A complete cease fire, Exchange of all prisoners, the right to join the EU and NATO, foreign troops in Ukraine, and the non-recognition of Russia’s territorial gains. These were all non-starters with Moscow. When the talks did convene they lasted only 75 minutes before reaching an impasse. Ukraine is under the illusion that it can defeat Russia. And Russia knows it is winning. In fact, as this was going on, Ukraine’s defenses on the Sumy was / is collapsing. The Ukrainians are facing possible encirclement and cities are falling fast. The entire front is leaking and morale is collapsing. Ukrainian reserve units are almost non-existent.[iv] [v] [vi]
- THE GOOD NEWS – Reality is setting in! President Trump is once again becoming aware of the true situation. The influence of the NEOCONS is waning. General Keith Kellog is Trump’s lead diplomat for the Ukraine situation. Alex Jones writes that he has publicly admitted – in print and in an interview – that NATO “essentially started the war with Russia and that the US is finally ready to agree to signing a historic agreement blocking the eastern expansion of NATO around Russia’s borders.” Jones explained. “The entire NEOCON Globalist System has been trying to sleep-walk us into World War III nuclear Armageddon with the Russians. That’s why the Trump administration has come out in the last 24 hours – admitting that the US has really been at war with Russia for years. And admitting that NATO has expanded into Russian areas.” Jones sees that as the key to defusing the situation.”
In an interview, General Kellog said that Putin has let it be known that if we “continue to supply them with weapons, we’re going to consider you part of the aggressor.” And Putin considers this to be a “proxy war by NATO as well. Right now, and frankly, in a way it is.” Putin has been watching European support for Ukraine all along. There is no other way to interpret it. In both a written statement and an interview, the General has legitimized Russia’s concerns. The US is recognizing that NATO expansion was the reason for invading Ukraine. And now the US is ready to pressure NATO to back-off the expansion plans. The US is tacitly admitting that America has been in a sort-of state of war with Moscow and the Trump administration is signaling it is ready to shut that down. That recognition of reality, seems to me to be the key to any progress toward peace.[vii]
