PART IV – WHO IS THE NEW AGE
You may be very surprised to learn just who is involved in the New Age Movement. Its’ adherents include some of the most powerful, influential, richest and most connected people on the planet. Some of them give a nominal allegiance to Christ and are high up in their denominations. Others are world statesman or powers in international business. Here’s how we got here.
The modern New Age movement took shape in the 1870’s, guided by the occult writings of Madame Helena Blavatsky, with her founding of the Theosophical Society. Blavatsky synthesized the occult with Eastern religious thinking. Mankind became god, “…in both its aspects – good and evil.” The good Madame believed man needed to be freed from its false gods in order to be “self-redeemed.”[i] As William Jasper wrote in his 1992 work, Global Tyranny, “In Madame Blavatsky’s twisted mind, the Bible had it all backwards; it was really Satan who was the victim” of the God Jehovah.[ii] Blavatsky called the God of the Bible, “the first and cruelest ‘Adversary’ of all other Gods.” This mother of Theosophy believed that the secret could be found in Kabala – and that the “Lord God” is identical to the Serpent in the Garden. She took it one farther with Jesus our Saviour, calling Him “the first born brother of Satan.”[iii] Her verdict on the matter: “Satan, the Serpent of Genesis, is the real creator and benefactor, the Father of Spiritual mankind.”[iv]
The aims of Blavatsky’s Theosophical movement were clearly laid out in this statement. “The Society teaches and expects its fellows to personally exemplify the highest morality and religious aspiration; to oppose the materialism of science and every form of dogmatic theology, especially the Christian, which the Chiefs of the Society regard as particularly pernicious.” To take the place of the ‘evil’ Christian philosophy, the Theosophists sought “to disseminate a knowledge of the sublime teachings of that pure esoteric system of the archaic period, which are mirrored in the oldest Vedas, and in the philosophy of Gautama Buddha, Zoroaster and Confucius; finally, and chiefly, to aid in the institution of a Brotherhood of Humanity, wherein all good and pure men, of every race, shall recognize each other as the equal effects (upon this planet) of one Uncreate, Universal, Infinite, and Everlasting Cause.”[v]
Eventually, Blavatsky passed the movement’s torch to Annie Besant, and ultimately Alice Bailey, who laid the foundations of the New Age Religion and founded the Lucifer Publishing Company in 1922.[vi] Almost immediately she saw the world wasn’t ready for so open a mission statement and changed the name to the Lucis Trust. Bailey published two-dozen books while admittedly demon possessed by the “Tibetan Master” Djwhal Khul.
Alice Bailey detailed the messages revealed to her by her demonic presence. She was greatly concerned with the coming of the New World Order and the process that would create it. It could emerge only after crisis and chaos had taken down the current world order. “The new world order must meet the immediate need and not be an attempt to satisfy some distant, idealistic vision. The new world order must be appropriate to a world which has passed through a destructive crisis and to a humanity which is badly shattered by the experience. The new world order must lay the foundation for a future world order which will be possible only after a time of recovery, of reconstruction, and of rebuilding… The new world order must be appropriate to a world which has passed through a destructive crisis.” Bailey reiterated the singlemindedness of the Theosophists. “We are concerned with only one subject, the ushering in of the new world order….the present world order (which is today largely disorder) can be so modified and changed that a new world and a new race of men can gradually come into being.”[vii]
Now Bailey’s Lucis Trust has maintained its status as consultant to the United Nations. The UN has emerged as point-man for the emerging One World Government. Long-time meditation leader at the UN, Sri Chinmoy described that organizations spiritual role. “The United Nations is the chosen instrument of God; to be a chosen instrument means to be a divine messenger carrying the banner of God’s inner vision and outer manifestation.”[viii] The New Age movement then, has become the feeder-stream for the coming Global Religion. William Jasper, defined it well. “The United Nations is steadily becoming the center of a syncretic new world religion, a weird and diabolical convergence of New Age mysticism, pantheism, aboriginal animism, atheism, communism, socialism, Luciferian occultism, apostate Christianity, Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, and Hinduism. The devotees and apostles of this new faith include the kind of strange admixture of crystal worshipers, astrologers, radical feminists, environmentalists, cabalists, human potentialists, Eastern mystics, pop psychologists, and “liberal” clergymen one would normally tend to associate with the off-beat, sandals-and-beads counterculture of the 1960s. But today’s worshipers in this rapidly expanding movement are as likely to be scientists, diplomats, corporate presidents, heads of state, international bankers, and leaders of mainstream Christian churches.”[ix]
The leadership of today’s New Age Movement is comprised of quite the collection of celebrated individuals, intricately bound together by a system of related but not necessarily identical beliefs. Still they are all working toward the same ends; a unification of all the world’s religions, saving the planet through radical environmentalism and population control, a giant leap in “cosmic consciousness”, and the ultimate coming of a New Age Christ. Let’s start running down a list of the usual suspects. We can start with the UN Connection. First there is former UN Assistant Secretary General Robert Muller. He developed something called the World Core Curriculum, designed to be used by schools throughout the globe to among other things, promote internationalism at the cost of national loyalties. That curriculum is based directly on the philosophy of Alice Bailey and her demonic spirit guide. Muller is such a firm believer in a world with one religion and one government that he has called the United Nations, “the body of Christ.”[x] Other UN luminaries pushing the New Age are former Secretary’s General, U Thant, who advocates a global pantheistic religion, and Dag Hammarskjold, who founded the UN Meditation Room.[xi]
In fact, far from popular belief, the UN is not religiously neutral. The New Age is in fact openly seating itself at the United Nations. You will recall that several groups that are committed to “bring the new world to birth” hold their meetings right at UN Headquarters. One of these, The Aquarian Age Community promotes a theology that recognizes only the divinity that comes from within each person when they are at one with the universe. They practice meditation and astral projection, which is being able to spiritually transport themselves anywhere in the universe. They openly invite direction from what they call their (demonic) spirit guides. Recognizing Jesus as only a great teacher, according to their mission statement, they are “actively preparing the way for the reappearance of the World Teacher – the Annointed One, the true Aquarian.” They call him by other names, The Great Being, Bohisattva, and the Lord Maitreya. – The one for whom they wait is of course the Antichrist. The AAC tells us that he is not coming for Christians. Now quoting, “He recognizes and loves those that are not Christian but who retain their allegiance to their Founders – the Buddha, Mohammed and others…If men look for the Christ Who left his disciples centuries ago they will fail to recognize the Christ Who is in the process of returning”.[xii]
In fact, if you read between the lines just a little, you’ll find that the AAC is openly supporting the appearance of Antichrist. One of their stated purposes is to “cooperate and collaborate with the worldwide community that is actively preparing the way for the reappearance of the World-Teacher – the Christed (Anointed) One, the true Aquarian.”[xiii] They go on to describe the one they call a “Great Being” and the “World Spiritual Teacher.,” describing him this way. “From direct experience of the shifting energies, it is possible to recognize that we are progressively moving toward the long-awaited Aquarian Age-the Age in which we expect and look for the reappearance of the World Spiritual Teacher. This Great Being has been referred to by such names as the Christ, the Bodhisattva, the Lord Maitreya, and the Imam Mahdi. Many today realize that His interest and concern is not restricted to the field and department of religion, but is concerned with the whole of Life. He is known to be the great Lord of Love and Compassion, the Master of the Masters, the Instructor of the Angels and the ‘One for Whom all the nations wait.’ And, this Great Being is also known under such additional titles as the True Aquarian, the Pilgrim, the Healer and the Thinker.”[xiv]
Another New Age entity seated at the UN is Alice Bailey’s intellectual offspring, the Lucis Trust. Bailey held that “We are all gods.” These organizations avowedly admit that the UN is a vehicle in pursuing one global religion that will replace all existing religions. For years, the United Nations had prophet-in-residence, Indian mystic, Sri Chinmoy. The official UN Spiritual Advisor, provided prayer and meditation meetings for over two decades and believes he was Thomas Jefferson in a previous life.[xv] He also claims to be the Spiritual Brother of Jesus. His followers revered him as a living god and meditated to a picture of his face. Chinmoy, who passed in 2007, taught a form of universalism, which will be a foundational principle of the religion of Antichrist. He wrote: “True religion has a universal quality. It does not find fault with other religions. False religions will find fault with other religions; they will say that theirs is the only valid religion and their prophet is the only saviour. But a true religion will feel that all the prophets are saviours of mankind. Forgiveness, compassion, tolerance, brotherhood and the feeling of oneness are the signs of a true religion.”[xvi]
Outside the United Nations, the Movement has many other powerful followers. There is the Canadian billionaire and UN diplomat, Maurice Strong who is one of the main backers of the Earth Charter. The Earth Charter is designed to replace the Ten Commandments. The papyrus charter is carried in the ‘Ark of Hope’, a cheap mock-up of the Ark of the Covenant in which the original Ten Commandments were transported. This new ‘Ark’ represents the five elements of pagan worship: Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Spirit. Strong is joined in his endeavors by Mikhail Gorbachev, the founder and last head of the former Soviet Union and founder of the radical environmental organization, Green Cross International and the State of the World Forum. Gorbachev’s Forum is dedicated to shaping a “new civilization.” Others involved in the State of the World Forum include Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu, media mogul and anti-Christian Ted Turner whose Captain Planet cartoon promoted the magical powers of the Earth Goddess, as well as numerous UN officials. The money behind the New Age group comes from the Rockefellers, CNN, Archer Daniels Midland, Occidental Petroleum, the Carnegie Corporation and the Kellogg Foundation.[xvii]
There are others. You can count in the ranks the likes of former Vice President Al Gore, who has praised primitive pagan religions and bemoaned the fact that Christianity put an end to goddess worship.[xviii] There is Jean Huston, the founder of a New York “Mystery School” who is reputed to have guided Hillary Clinton in contacting the spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt.[xix] There is Episcopal Bishop William Swing founder of the United Religious Initiative, – an attempt to unite all of the world’s religions. In fact, that seems to be a trend among the Anglican/Episcopalian crowd. The New American Insider identified the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Divine, as a hotbed of “…New Age and radical left enlightenment”. We can’t forget Laurence Rockefeller and his Fund for the Enhancement of the Human Spirit. And then there are those in the trenches, the preachers and teachers of the New Age. You may recognize some of their names: Neale Donald Walsch of Conversations with God fame, Ram Dass, Deepak Chopra and Tony Robbins.[xx]
Now the offerings of the New Age are given favorable treatment in such “main stream” media as PBS and Time Magazine. Both regularly feature the musings of the Jesus Seminar, a group of admittedly very liberal scholars who deny just about everything that the Bible says. To these people, Jesus is not God, did not rise from the dead, was not born of a virgin, and might have been married to Mary Magdalene. To the Seminar people, the Jesus of the Bible does not exist. Time Magazine hews to the same line in its articles discussing the nuances of Christianity. One New Age author quoted in the magazine said, “The God I have found is common to Moses and Mohammed, to Buddha and Jesus. It is known to every mystic tradition. Now I know there is a God, in here, demanding not faith but experience.” The powers that be are more than friendly to New Age thinking.[xxi]
The New Age has become embedded in our culture. Public schools that assiduously keep out prayer and even the mention of the God of the Bible, will dedicate a month to studying Islam, complete with student role-playing. After all, ‘All paths are equal’. It’s just that some are more equal than others! Others will celebrate the earth itself. There is Earth Spirit Day. That concept is right in line with New Age thinking. The Movement tells us the Earth is a living Spirit. They call it Gaia and it is the driving force behind radical environmentalism. Leading New Age advocate Mikhail Gorbachev announced on PBS’s Charlie Rose Show, “Cosmos is my God. Nature is my God”.[xxii] Everywhere you look the heroes of Western thought and Biblical values are being torn down in favor of the benighted practices of primitive peoples. After all, this way of living and thinking is more in line with the wishes of Gaia, the living Earth Spirit. So paganism has come to be celebrated in our schools. The anti-Western historical model that is being taught is a direct attack on the values of the Judeo-Christian culture that was this nation’s unchallenged heritage until the 1960’s.
That is not all. ‘Fellow travelers’ in the media such as Oprah Winfrey parrot the confused ‘Cafeteria Spirituality’ that has replaced the rational pursuit of Truth. “It’s all good”, – even when it contradicts itself. Then there is the secretive but pervasive influence of the secret societies, with their charitable, harmless looking fronts. I am talking about groups like the Masons. At the lower levels these are little more than do-good beer drinking clubs, – you know, like Ralph & Norton on The Honeymooners or Fred & Barney on the Flintstones. Yet behind that front, in the upper levels it is paganism in full flower, – an affront to the God of the Bible. Alice Bailey identifies the Masons as keepers of the Ancient Mysteries, – the pagan worship of Lucifer that dates back to Babylon. The Freemasons themselves acknowledge the compliment. According to Albert Pike’s Morals and Dogma; -Freemasons worship Lucifer as “he who bears the light”, – and seek a one-world government they call the ‘Holy Empire’ as their ultimate goal.
So what is it they are selling? They sell the same thing the Serpent was selling in the Garden. That you can be god! That you are god! New Age adherents look forward to a day when there will be One-World-Government and One-World-Religion. They are selling a tolerance of all things; – good and evil. And they are selling it successfully. They are saying that all ways to God are valid. They have convinced a majority of Americans that Absolute Truth does not exist! They have convinced many a born-again Christian that, “Jesus is my way…but Buddha may be yours”. They have declared that the Cross is a big lie, that we are our own saviors, that we have no need of salvation because there is no sin. Yet John 3:16 &18 says of Jesus: “…whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life…but he who does not believe is condemned already.”
