Is a major End Time’s prophecy on the verge of fulfillment? The question is very real indeed. The status of the current state of Israel is a very hotly debated subject. This is true in the world at large, which pretty much universally considers it to be illegitimate. But it is also true of a large portion of the professing church. That portion of the Church will tell you that the restored Israel promised in the Scriptures refers only to a spiritual Israel – and that the restored Jerusalem they are talking about is the New Jerusalem of Revelation. So to this wing of Christendom, modern Israel is an irrelevant aberration that violates Palestinian rights.
But despite the denials of the nay-sayers, the prophetic parallels march on. Israel came into being after nearly 1,800 years. Jews are returning to the Land from North and South and East and West, according to the words of the prophets. And in many cases, the returnees are being abetted by Gentiles, again, an event predicted in the Holy Book. [But never mind all that….It really doesn’t count, I guess.] And now there is this on the horizon. It is possible in the very near future that President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority could declare statehood. And as empty as that might be on the political stage, could be another fulfillment of the prophetic word. On September 5th, World Israel News ran this headline: “Abbas plans to declare PA ‘state under occupation.’” Reports surfaced in the Israeli press that according to Arab sources, “Palestinian Authority (PA) head Mahmoud Abbas will declare the areas under PA control ‘a state under occupation’ while addressing the UN General Assembly later this month…..Abbas had briefed PLO officials of his intention to declare statehood at the world leader’s forum. Such an announcement could include a declaration of independence, a constitution establishing Palestinian democracy and rights, a Palestinian currency and the establishment of additional Palestinian embassies.” That opens up the possibility that the UN General Assembly could vote to recognize Palestine as a “state under occupation.”
That is just the point that prophecy comes in. Isaiah 34:12 reads: “They shall call its nobles to proclaim the kingdom, but nothing shall be there, and all its princes shall be no more.” Scripture there could be signaling the empty pronouncement of an empty kingdom. Read in context, the chapter is talking about End Times judgement in the Land of Palestine on the Edomites, an enemy nation of Israel. There is a parallel, it would seem, with the passage found in Obadiah 1:15-18. That describes the destruction of the House of Esau – also referred to as Edom. Many claim that modern Palestinians trace their roots back to Esau, brother of Jacob. Now, Obadiah is set in a time when “the day of the Lord upon all the nations is near.” (vs 15) For Israel it is prophesied to be a time of “deliverance” and “holiness” when “The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau.” (Obadiah 1:17-18)
What’s really going on is the biggest fake news story in a long time. Let me explain. There’s this imaginary land…No, no! The land is real…but there’s this imaginary people…Wait, let me get this right…the people are real….but they’re not who they say they are…and they’ve been lying about who they are for several decades now – so that they don’t even know that they’re lying any more….some of them at least, that they’re not the people that they say they are. Make sense? And you know what’s even crazier than that? Like, big chunks of the world believes them. World leaders and news guys and commentators; almost all the movers and shakers are buying into this…stuff…And they’re making it really hard on the folks that really do have the rights to this land. And right now all these movers and shakers are working real hard to get the guys & gals that really do have the rights to that land….well they’re trying to get them to give up a bunch of it – to this people that never really were. And listen. The imaginary people are even getting ready to declare statehood even as they riot against the folks that have the rights to the land. OK, I admit it. I’m not making this up. It really is that crazy.!
NO! Wait! That’s what’s really going on. Here’s the truth. As Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once declared: “There is no such thing as a Palestinian people.”[i] That was like wow politically incorrect and absolutely historically true. The big myth that has been perpetrated tells us that Israel wrested the Land from the Palestinians occupying their homeland after wars of conquest. The fact is: Israel moved into the territories only after Arab countries initiated wars of annihilation against the Jewish presence. Those Arab countries included Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Yemen. Did you notice? No Palestine! It didn’t exist. Let’s look at the History of the Land. Now under British control, by 1923 Palestine was divided into two districts; – 3/4 for Arabs and about 1/4 for Jews. The artificially created nation of Trans-Jordan – (today’s Jordan) – was to serve as the homeland for the Palestinian Arabs. (Did you catch that?) Just prior to Israel’s declaration of independence in 1948, the land was divided again, with more land taken from the Jews and awarded to the Arabs. The Jews agreed to this too – and the Arabs did not. In fact, as the Arabs prepared to drive the Jews out, Arab leaders began ordering their people to leave so that the Arabs could complete the destruction of Israel to make it easier for their forces to deal with the nascent Jewish state. [This fact was attested to by British police officials, the London Economist, a Greek Orthodox Bishop – most importantly by Emile Ghoury, Secretary of the Palestinian Arab Higher Committee, which ordered the evacuation.[ii] It was confirmed again by current Palestinian chief Mahmoud Abbas, who, writing under the Abu Mazen for an Arab paper, said: “The Arab armies entered Palestine to protect the Palestinians from the Zionist tyranny, but instead they abandoned them, forced them to emigrate and to leave their homeland.”[iii]] What followed was a war of independence which the reborn nation of Israel won against massive odds. It’s an interesting fact that during the period from 1949-1967, – while Gaza was held by Egypt and the West Bank by Jordan, – no attempt was made to set up a Palestinian State. No mention was ever made of the ‘rights of the Palestinian People.’ The PLO, (Palestinian Liberation Organization) was not founded until 1964 and did not discover their ‘ancient’ identity as a people until Israel took those territories after the Arab-caused ‘67 War.[iv] [v] [vi] [vii] [viii] [ix]
Ever since then they’ve been working at the establishment of their own state through the use of terror, of stabbings, of pushing their children up into the front lines, of suicide bombings and the like. All this speaks to the matter of just what sort of state is to be created for this imaginary people. Giulio Meotti detailed just the sort of political entity we can expect. Here’s some of what he offered. Palestinian leaders admit: “It will be a racist state ethnically cleansed of Jews.” It will “banish freedom of conscience for artists, journalists and writers.” It will stone homosexuals and prostitutes to death. It will be tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, “the caliphate of death.” Sharia will be “the only rule of law.” It will be a “state that will commemorate terrorists, human bombs and baby killers.” Finally it will be a state dedicated to destruction of not only Israel but the entire Jewish race.[x] Yet the world has swallowed the lie and is determined to see it come to fruition. In fact, the world demands not only the establishment of a Palestinian state – but insists on Jerusalem serving as its capital. But here’s how God weighs in on the subject. “Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him: Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:1-3)
