Under the cover of failed peace talks, the Russians, Ukrainians, Germans and the rest of Europe are rushing toward a military confrontation that could lead to the next major war, even dragging in the US and threatening a nuclear exchange. And through it all the American public remains largely, blissfully unaware as the story is barely covered by the Legacy Media.
The background behind all of this is the US sponsored peace initiatives that have essentially gone nowhere. Putin and Zelensky have taken turns demanding conditions for peace or even a cease-fire that are non-starters for the other side. Back in March cryptically declared of Putin, “He will die soon.”[i] And earlier this month, Ukrainian forces attempted to make that a reality.
- The Express reported: “During the period when the President [Putin] was working in the Kursk region, the enemy launched an unprecedented attack with unmanned aerial vehicles. The air defence group in this area destroyed 46 aircraft-type [Ukrainian military drones].”[ii]
- Russia responded with massive pre-dawn drone and missile attacks against Ukrainian cities.[iii] The Russians claimed that the attacks were against defense plants in those locations.
Now Germany is stepping up as Ukraine’s prime supporter. New German Chancellor Merz pledged 3 billion Euros without being specific as to what the aid would entail. But most observers believe this would include Taurus missiles which can reach deep into Russia and are capable of carrying nuclear payloads. Chancellor “Merz told media that Germany, France, England and the USA have ‘lifted range restrictions’ on weapons provided to Ukraine by the West, now allowing Ukraine to strike anywhere inside Russia.”
- Russian state media responded by calling for strikes on the factory that makes the Taurus missiles. “Germany is directly engaging Russia with its Taurus cruise missiles. Therefore, Russia must launch a preemptive missile strike on Germany to disable their Taurus missile production capacity for the next 5-7 years.” Hal Turner reports: “The operation to deploy the missiles in Ukraine was carried out by British and German intelligence services. The targets of the attack are determined by NATO headquarters in the EU.”[iv]
- President Trump expressed his anger at Putin for the stepped-up attacks on Ukraine. Some are saying that the President may not have full knowledge of the situation. There was a video of Trump talking to reporters at an airfield regarding the situation.. Video: “I’m not happy with what Putin’s doing. He’s killing a lot of people. I don’t know what the hell happed to Putin.”…..Reporter: “Can I follow up on that? A Russian Commander reportedly said that Putin was almost caught in the middle of a drone attack from Ukraine.” Trump: “I haven’t heard that, but uh, maybe that would be a reason. I don’t know. But I have not heard that.” And that is where the problem may lie. Just like in his first administration, his aides may be withholding information from the President. Hal Turner explains. “During Trump’s first term, it turned out that the Deep State was keeping him in a sort of info-cocoon; keeping him in the dark about key facts. The evidenced surfaced after Trump left office, concerning US Troops in Syria. Trump had ordered the withdrawal of those troops, and had been told repeatedly they were being withdrawn. But after Trump left office in his first term, military guys laughed that the troops were still in Syria and that Trump had been lied to about it!” Turner described it as an “information cocoon.”[v]
So, the question then becomes: What game is really being played here. Is Trump actively working to find a peaceful solution? Or is that just a pose and he is carrying out the NEOCON agenda of continued American dominance. Analyst Brian Berletic would argue that that is the case. Berletic points to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s meeting earlier this year with the NATO brass when he told them to expand their military budgets to 5% of GDP and begin to expand their industrial base so they could take on the Russians without American help. [In this view, the Americans want Europe to hold Russia in check while we deal with the more pressing problem of China.] Well, he says, the Europeans have been complying. And now Germany has even permanently stationed a mechanized brigade in Lithuania. He maintains that there is no genuine desire for peace with Russia and that the proposed cease fire would have allowed the creation of a buffer zone with European troops heading to Ukraine to secure the western part of that country. To Berletic, global primacy is America’s goal. So, this is what he calls a “continuity of agenda” with previous American administrations.[vi]
The last week or so has seen a significant step up in pressure by the Russians. They are massing forces in the northeast sector for a push against the Ukrainian front.
-
Ukrainian front in danger of collapse In just that period of time the Russian Army has seized 55 miles of territory. David Bellavia says, “Putin is grabbing what he can grab” before the onset of the peace talks. “He is trying to establish a buffer zone.”
- The Russians bombed the port of Odessa destroying cargo shipping of mostly American supplies.
- They took out Patriot missile batteries in Kiev killing Ukrainian Special Forces troops.
- Russian planes violated Finland’s air space. The Finish Air Force responded forcefully.
- All of this is being done during a time of supposed negotiation.
- In response, the US has sent 20K troops to Romania and Poland. Bellavia says that 100K American personnel will be within 10 to 12 hours of being able to engage, should the Russians make a move.
- And Trump approached both the Vatican and the Orthodox Church to broker a deal.[vii] [The irony of that situation is that Zelensky has been actively persecuting the largest Ukrainian Orthodox denomination in his country, seizing churches, jailing clergy and roughing up parishioners.][viii]
What we have here is complicated and increasingly insane situation that could see the US and squiring off in a nuclear duel. That would be a war that no one would win. In Zelenssky we have a dictator who has overstayed his electoral mandate by over a year, cancelled elections, arrested political opponents, persecuted a Christian Church whose members voted for him by over 90% and assassinated opponents. In Putin, we have another strong-man leader who has ratcheted up the war. More civilians are dying. Moscow is occupying more land, albeit territory occupied by ethnic Russians who were living as persecuted third-class citizens under the Ukrainian government.

This will sound crazy to some. Both sides have legitimate interests at stake here. This goes back to NATO expansion, which the West promised Russia would not happen. It goes back to NATO wanting to place missiles in Ukraine just minutes from Moscow and Russia’s nuclear arsenal. It goes back to the fact that the CIA and the US Department of State through their operative Victoria Nuland was behind the Color Revolution that chased out a democratically elected Ukrainian President and overthrew the government in 2014. It goes back to the fact that Angela Merkl of Germany and Hollande of France both admitted they signed the Minsk Agreements – which were supposed to protect the ethnic-Russians in the Ukrainian Donbass region & allow them a degree of autonomy under Ukrainian rule – they admitted the West had no intention of honoring those agreements. Instead, beginning in 2014, the Ukrainian government attacked the civilian population of those areas with artillery and mortars killing over 14,000 in the process.
With the stakes as high as they are, peace, not political advantage must be our goal. Pray that the Trump administration will free itself from any NEOCON influence and pursue the end of these hostilities.
Jesus warned of these days before His return. “And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:6-8)
