“Black Hawk Down” Survivor on Why Jesus is the Only Way to Transform the World – What impacted Jeff Struecker most was NOT the thousands of hostile Somalis swarming his Humvee, nor the hailstorm of bullets and RPGs as he attempted to rescue fellow Rangers in the ill-fated 1993 raid of Mogadishu made famous by the movie. “It was back at the base when grown men, some of the toughest warriors on the planet, with tears in their eyes ask me, ‘Jeff, what happens to me if I get on a helicopter or a Humvee tomorrow and I don’t make it home?” The advice he gave that night did more to direct Struecker’s career than the intensive Ranger training. Seeing a chance to impact the lives of men, Struecker became a chaplain for his same Ranger buddies in the 82 Airborne Division, a post he’s held for more than a decade.[i]
Southern Baptist President Leads Thousands for Spiritual Awakening – Southern Baptist convention President Ronnie Floyd asked the attendees at the International House of Prayer Onething Conference, to kneel in prayer and ask God for and awakening. His appearance at the conference stirred controversy among conservative online Baptist publications. “My being here isn’t an endorsement of your (Mike Bickle and IHOP) theology, or your endorsing mine, Floyd told attendees. “If we’re honest with each other, we know that people must come together and pray.” Mike Bickle invited him after hearing him urge Baptist leaders to pray and fast.[ii]
“Humble” Billy Graham Named Among the Ten Most Admired Men in America for the 59th Time – Graham, 97, first made Gallup Poll’s Most Admired Men list at age 59 in 1955 and has appeared on the list more than any other individual. Franklin Graham opened up about his father’s humility and dedication to sharing the Gospel. “My father would say, ‘It’s not about me-it’s all about the Lord Jesus Christ,” the younger Graham recalled. “I remember years ago when he stood up to speak to a massive crowd if itinerant evangelists from around the world, and they wouldn’t stop applauding. He motioned for them to stop, but they wouldn’t. He just kept quietly saying, ‘He must increase, but I must decrease’” (John 3:30). A good reminder to us all about what the focus of our lives should be.[iii]
