PART III– THE RISING SPIRIT OF ANTICHRIST – 1
“By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” (1John 4:2-3)
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” (1Timothy 4:1)
We are living in an age when the “spirit of the Antichrist” is running rampant in the land. An age when “doctrines of demons” are openly preached in churches and taught to our youngest and most vulnerable in our schools. There is a force that has risen in this country that encourages, promotes and celebrates a culture of death and perversion. We feted the enshrinement of gay marriage in 2015 with the lightening of the White House in rainbow colors. [According to the Babylonian Talmud, the only other time in history when homosexual marriage was legal was just before God destroyed the world with the Flood.][i] Then in January of 2019, the New York State Senate broke out in sustained cheers to celebrate the passage of a bill that allows the murder of babies in the womb right up until the time of birth. Democrat Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia wanted to go one farther. When his state’s abortion bill was being considered he said this. “The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother & the family desired. And then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother,” as to the fate of the baby.
President Trump mocked Governor Northam’s position at a rally in Wisconsin. “The baby is born. The mother meets with the doctor. They take care of the baby. They wrap the baby beautifully, and then the doctor and the mother determine whether or not they will execute the baby. I don’t think so.” Now that kind of coldness has awakened a good portion of the American people. Support for the pro-life position increased dramatically following the Leftist, pro-death onslaught. Since that time there has been a decided pro-life reaction in several states. Alabama voted abortion illegal in just about all cases. “Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio stopped short of outright bans, instead passing so-called heartbeat bills that effectively prohibit abortions after six to eight weeks of pregnancy, when doctors can usually start detecting a fetal heartbeat. Utah and Arkansas voted to limit the procedure to the middle of the second trimester.”[ii] Of course, all of these will face challenges in the courts – and likely, eventually the Supreme Court, putting Roe-v-Wade up to the test.
The Bible is clear on both of these issues. So that makes any position that is other than biblical a “doctrine of demons” and therefore an expression of the Antichrist spirit. These doctrines have inserted themselves in the fabric of our once Judeo-Christian-anchored culture, abetted in many cases by Christian denominations. Supporters of some or many abortion rights include the Episcopal Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the United Methodists, the Presbyterian Church USA and the United Church of Christ. They are joined by both Conservative and Reformed Judaism.[iii] The organizations favoring LGBTQ rights are pretty much the same only you can throw in the Quakers with them.[iv] [Do they still dress like the guy on the cereal box?]
These organizations have been unduly influenced by the leftward trajectory of a large portion of the country. The socialist, social justice movement that has insanely taken hold of a significant segment of the population has emboldened this spirit of lawlessness. Polls are only snapshots, but some of the latest snapshots show that the underlying beliefs of Americans are changing. Among 18 to 19 year-olds, 51% have a favorable view of socialism while 45% favor capitalism.[v] And Democrats have taken a clear step to the Left. 47% have a positive of capitalism, dropping from 56% since 2016. Dems like socialism at a 57% rate.[vi] [This is no longer the party of John Kennedy!]
This is reflected in more than just political beliefs. A solid majority of Americans would now be “comfortable” or even “enthusiastic” with a gay or lesbian president – 61%. But only 52% of Americans would approve of an Evangelical Christian in the office.[vii] We have become a nation that pursues sin – and sins of the worst kind. God’s word is clear. Homosexuality is an abomination to God! No amount of fancy reasoning can alter that word. Abortion is nothing short of murder. It is execution of the innocent. There have been over 60 million such executions since Roe-v-Wade. I am NOT SAYING THAT WOMEN THAT HAVE HAD ABORTIONS SHOULD BE TREATED AS MURDERERS! In some ways they are the victims here too – of a rationale that has told them that their baby is nothing more than ‘fetal tissue’. They have, in many cases, bought that deadly lie. The real culprits are Planned Parenthood and the firms and researchers that benefit financially from the sale of baby parts. There is indeed an entire industry based upon that ghastly practice. One firm at least has set up a website where one can shop online for such things as baby brains, tongues, scalps or reproductive organs.[viii] By the way, a baby brain costs $3,340 – or you can save some money and get 38 of them for $22,610. Three complete sets of limbs goes for $2,670.[ix] [I guess there’s big money to be made here!] The vaccine industry received nearly $100 million dollars for research using fetal tissue.[x] Just this week the Trump administration put an end to that practice. [xi] For those who promote such ghastly practices, God has a solemn word of judgement. In Proverbs 8:36 God says: “All those who hate me love death.” With the drive toward unlimited abortion bordering on infanticide and the campaign to promote euthanasia are we not fostering a Culture of Death?
In every area we are running from God’s precepts. We are tearing down the foundations America was built on and erecting a morality of our own construction. To paraphrase Dave Daubenmire: Would Jesus approve of homosexuality? Would He approve of abortion? I think we know the answer to those questions. Yet still many who call themselves Christian pull the lever for politicians that support those practices. And there is one party that wants to throw its remaining pro-lifers out of the fold. (Governor Cuomo of New York wants to go even farther. In 2014 he told pro-life and 2nd Amendment supporters that they were no longer welcome in his state. “These extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay…. they have no place in the state of New York.”[xii])
There is a movement in this country to remove God and all that He stands for, from the public square. Romans 1:18-22: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools.”
Jump down a few verses and we see God’s verdict on homosexual practice. Verses 26 & 27. “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”
The LGBTQ movement purports to be one that promotes freedom of lifestyle and expression. What all of this is really selling is not an alternative lifestyle, – but rather a way of death. Homosexuality brings with it; – promiscuity, STDs, alcoholism, drug use, AIDS, increased mental illness and even suicide. (These conditions are most prominently found, by the way, in places like San Francisco, New York, and the parts of Europe where it is popular.) The very nature of the homosexual phenomena is intrinsically destructive. It destroys wherever it goes. [Yet in California, for instance, the LGBTQ agenda, replete with the notion of gender fluidity, is being taught in the public schools from the earliest grades.] It is not an innate sense of “homophobia” or hate that underlies that statement, but rather a deep and studied concern that homosexuality is destroying the culture, destroying individuals in its grasp, and destroying children who are buying into the lie that it is a morally / consequence-neutral lifestyle choice. To illustrate the point, let me share some facts about the ‘nature of the beast.’
- Extensive studies reveal that, over the course of a lifetime, 73% of gay men had over 100 sexual partners, – 41% had over 500, – 26% had over 1,000. A rather promiscuous lifestyle, that![xiii]
- The Advocate, a gay magazine reports that of 600 gays and bisexuals surveyed in Milwaukee, 73% said that within the previous 6 months, they had sex with someone that they never saw again.[xiv]
The American Journal of Public Health reported in 1994 that 50% of gay men and 41% of lesbians canvassed in one study used hallucinogens. About 80% surveyed used marijuana.[xv]- According to the AMA, gay youth are about 23 times more likely to get STDs.[xvi]
- On a per-capita basis, child molestation and pedophilia are more than 7-times more likely to be committed by homosexuals. About 86% of pedophiles describe themselves as gay or bisexual. The average homosexual offender will molest over 150 male victims during the course of a lifetime, as opposed to about 19 for the heterosexual molester.[xvii]
- Another study found: “Homosexuals comprise perhaps two percent of the population, yet according to the Journal of Sex Research, homosexual pedophiles are responsible for 33% of all child sex offenses. Homosexuals molest children at at least 10 times the rate of heterosexuals.”
- According to an Austrian study, “children raised by homosexuals experiment with sexually aberrant behaviors at a higher rate than children raised by heterosexuals and at earlier ages, and do worse.”[xviii]
- Results from a thirteen year study of over 6,700 obituaries from eighteen homosexual journals, was compared to obituaries from mainstream newspapers. It found that non-aids homosexuals had a mean lifespan of 42 years compared to 75 for heterosexual married men. The mean age-of-death for lesbians was 44 compared to 79 for hetero married women.[xix]
The most dangerous lie in all of this is that God somehow approves of the Gay lifestyle, of the right to take a life in the womb. The ‘Christian’ wing of the Gay lobby covets Divine sanction for their lifestyle choice, is an attempt to seize the high ground. ‘God approves,’ they argue. But this is in essence a part of a larger argument that goes all the way back to the Garden, when Satan convinced Eve that we could all be like gods, defining the very nature of good and evil. To the adherents of this new theology, the Bible no longer sets the standard of right and wrong. We do! In modern thinking there is no sin, for the most part. There is no Truth, which does not pay homage to the overriding value of Tolerance. Surveys show that 2/3 of Americans no longer believe in “absolute truth”, over half of those call themselves born-again Christians. Over a quarter of Christians say sin is, “an outdated concept”.[xx] In essence even ‘religious man’, has deigned to set himself up as the judge over Biblical Truth. It is God’s unfailing love that is cited as justification. The God that this liberal theology worships is one in which God’s holiness is diminished. In this view, the presence of love then, sanctifies the behavior. Here’s the essence of the argument: If God is love, and a homosexual relationship is based on love, then how can homosexuality be wrong? ‘Besides’, they argue, ‘Jesus Himself, said nothing about homosexuality.’ As one gay Christian leader puts it, “Jesus was more interested in love.”[xxi] The most radical in the movement, have taken the argument farther. They have developed an actual Gay-Affirming theology. Even Jesus, they argue, may have lived an ‘alternative lifestyle’ with the Apostle John, ‘the disciple whom Jesus loved.’[xxii]
But their moral argument falls down on several fronts. First of all, it rejects the consistency of the moral law. Jesus explicitly affirmed the entire law in Matthew 5:18; – even the parts that condemned homosexuality. “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” It by-passes Paul’s categorical listing of those unqualified for the Kingdom. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1Corinthinians 6:9) Homosexuals and sodomites are included. Finally, it completely ignores the theme of Christ’s ministry expressed in Matthew 4:17. “Repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand.” The nature of that born-again experience, described in John 3:3, is one of a changed life, freed from the bondage of sin, – not just its penalty. It does not leave us to live the sinful lives we lived before our surrender to God. The nature of God’s law is that it points to our sin. It never legitimizes it. In John 14:15, Jesus enjoined us, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
But instead we have developed a society that wallows in its sins – that declares them to be rights and celebrates them in prideful displays. This emerging culture of death and a Radical Gay Agenda are either knowingly or deceptively, infiltrating and deconstructing the architecture of our once Christian-based culture, and in the process preparing the way for a great falling away and the ascension of the man of sin. These are doctrines of demons we glorify, products of the rising spirit of Antichrist.
