“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
If you are of a certain age, you probably are like me. You know right where you were when you heard the news. To those of us a bit older, it was like the Kennedy assassination. To my parents’ generation, like Pearl Harbor. It left an indelible mark. It shifted history. As a nation we were confused and dazed and lost and for a few precious weeks, we were even seeking God more earnestly. Then, sadly, that went away.
Twenty-five years ago America was attacked by Al Qaeda. Whatever other involvements there may or may not have been – whatever security failings of the American government, the bottom line was this: Our enemy was Islamist. You might say it was Radical Islam. Or you might say, they were just following their Quran. Either way you get to the same destination. Those following Quranic principles to the letter wanted and still want us dead….Or surrendering to the Universal Caliphate. They demand complete control. They march in Dearborn and Chicago to proclaim that end. Their imams pray in New York City, with Mayor Mamdani present, that Allah would slay all infidels. And in case you don’t know it….that is us. The terrorists took 2,977 lives that day. And yet now we are embracing the religion of those that attacked us. What happened that day was the full embodiment of evil. We can feel lost in its’ wake. But God was not surprised nor taken aback. And if we are His, we can know that God is completely in control of our lives. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
In the two-and-one-half decades that have passed, we have come to embrace Islam more and more. Many Muslims have claimed public offices – even as many of them preach an anti-American agenda. Several American Journalism organizations provided guidance that told media to “Avoid using the word ‘terrorism’ unless it is in a quote by a source, as the words are emotionally and politically loaded.” 
Canadian media are not allowed to refer to 9/11 as a terrorist attack. This was at its root and essence an unambiguous example of terror; an attack against civilians for political and ideological purposes. As Bill Maher pointed out, the BBC called the use of such language as a “barrier to understanding.”[i]
If we are honest about what happened that day, we must realize that this is an attack on Western Civilization by the Islamists. And while there are plenty of moderate Muslims in the world, they do not control their faith. It is the radicals that are in charge. There is ample support for instituting Sharia Law. And support for the Islamic radicals is creeping into our youngest generation. One-fifth of Gen Z support Osama bin Laden.
Islam has long been depicted as ‘The Religion of Peace.’ This, despite its’ violent and conquering beginning. Now, I have recently become a fan of the late British politician by the name of Anne Widdecombe, a former Conservative, who finished her life as a member of the Reform Party. Years ago, she laid out the true record of this religion. Here is their record. 9/11, the bombing of the London Underground, Mali, Bali, the Nigerian slaughter of Christians, Sudan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, the Pakistani Rape Gangs in the UK, with 250K victims. That is just some of the geography of Islamic terror. And they have bequeathed us Sharia. Here are some of its’ features. Death for apostasy, death for adultery, death for blasphemy, death for homosexuality. They toss them right off of buildings. They discriminate against women. Their testimony is worth only half of that of a man. You can’t forget child marriage. In Yemen you can marry a nine-year-old. Amputations for stealing. Beheadings are routine. If a girl is raped, she regularly will be sentenced to prison. Then there’s Islam as it is practiced in the UK – still posing as a Western Democracy. Death threats on the streets of London. Butchering those who insult Islam. Muslims patrol the streets of East London, enforcing “Sharia controlled zones.” Polygamy regularly practiced. Marriage does not require the consent of the bride. This is the real root of Islamophobia.
Are these just the extremists? No! This is what is taught in their books. This is the nature of their scripture. Consider Saudi Arabia, the birthplace and center of Islam. Women are not allowed to drive or vote. They cannot leave the house without a male accompanying her. Widdecombe, years ago pointed out that she was told, “violent Muslims are misunderstood. Iran which stones people to death for adultery is misunderstood….Has there ever been a more spectacularly misunderstood religion as Islam?”[ii]
Islam comes with a dark history. Those that follow the Quran are the representatives of true Islam. And it is a religion fully incompatible with Western Civilization. It is NOT Islamophobic to recognize that. And it is wise to act accordingly. “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16)
