Multiple crises & events dominate the news
Many with End Time significance
ISRAEL – The cease fire and very one-sided prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas is over. “Israel has resumed its military operations against Hamas in Gaza after the collapse of the ceasefire, which broke down due to Hamas’s refusal to release Israeli hostages….Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched dozens of airstrikes throughout Gaza, targeting key Hamas infrastructure and leadership.”[i] The IDF has confirmed “Tuesday that it eliminated four out of six of the most senior Hamas officials in Gaza, including the head of the government, Essam al-Da’alis. The other three who were killed were identified as Mahmoud Abu Watfa, director-general of Hamas’s Interior Ministry, Bahjat Abu Sultan, operational chief of Hamas’s internal security, and Hamas’s justice minister Ahmed Omar al-Hatta.”[ii] The IDF has also been active in Judea and Samaria, also called the West Bank. Recently, the Palestinian Authority, made quite the show of what they called an anti-terrorist operation there. “Eight weeks after the Palestinian Authority supposedly undertook a major anti-terrorist operation in Jenin and other cities, Israeli forces continue to capture terrorists, weapons and bomb-making equipment there.”[iii] The IDF’s operations against Hamas in Gaza have resulted in hundreds of deaths, the majority of them among fighters, though some civilian casualties occurred. Much of the world is in an uproar over Israel’s campaign. God’s word tells of a time when all the world will turn against Israel. “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” (Zechariah 12:2-3)
SYRIA – According to multiple sources, the “ongoing slaughter of Alawites and Christians in Syria has reached staggering proportions, with estimates of the death toll ranging from 7,000 to 17,000.” According to an Armenian Christian journalist, the newly-self-installed leader of Syria, “[President] Al-Jolani sent his Al-Qaeda gangs to Latakia to suppress Alawite civilians under the claim they are [Assad] regime remnants. Kids, children, newborn babies, women, and men have been executed in daylight in the streets—all documented on video because the goal is not only to kill but to take pleasure in the slaughter of ordinary people.”[iv] The Muslim sect called the Alawites have been the main victims, but many Christians have also been targeted. Europe however has decided to support the radical-Islamist government there. The “9th International Conference in Support of Syria at European Council headquarters in Brussels, Belgium” voted to give Syria $4.6 billion and loan another $1.7 billion to “rebuild infrastructure and encourage a peaceful political transition.”[v] [Let’s see how that works out.]
IRAN & YEMEN – The pressure is on Iran to come to an arrangement with the US & Israel regarding nuclear weapons. President is warning that the world is approaching its’ “final moments” to stave off a military confrontation. He has said he would much prefer a peace deal. And there is a complicating factor – The Houthis of Yemen. The President is holding Iran responsible for the Houthis attacking shipping in the Red Sea. Mr Trump posted: “Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN.”[vi] American forces have been pounding the Yemeni capital, serving as headquarters for the Houthi. The Houthis continue to fire back with cruise missiles and drones, targeting American naval forces in the region.[vii]
RUSSIA – UKRAINE – On the road to peace or escalation? The US suspended military aid and intel for Ukraine to get Zelensky to agree to a 30 day cease fire. It worked. But at first the Russians said “Nyet,” it would just be used to re-arm Ukraine. Then Russia laid out some conditions. Russia keeps the territory it occupies and no NATO for Ukraine and no Western troops in Ukraine. The Europeans are making noises they want to go it alone and fight Russia without US support – of course, hoping to draw Washington in. A phone call between Trump and Putin produced a proposal for a suspension of attacks on energy and infrastructure. Then Zelensky laid out his conditions. “The red line for us is if the temporarily occupied territories will be considered Russians. We will not agree to that.” He also called for the release of thousands of prisoners held by the Russians, calling this too, “unconditional.”[viii] On another front, during the phone call between the Russian and American Presidents, “the two leaders shared the view that Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel.”[ix]
