POPE FRANCIS: CHURCH CAN BLESS SAME SEX MARRIAGES – Guess it doesn’t matter what the Bible says on the issue of homosexuality. Pope Francis has chosen to set aside biblical doctrine on the issue. “Pope Francis softened the Vatican’s ban on blessing same-sex couples, saying that priests may use their discretion in giving such blessings, so long as they don’t imply a same-sex union is equivalent to a heterosexual marriage.” Conservative Catholics see this as the first step on a slippery slope leading full recognition of the practice.[i]
A DRILL & AN ALERT – October 3, Russia conducted a nationwide nuclear defense drill. Children donned gas masks. Sirens and loudspeakers blasted out warnings. Emergency personnel donned hazmat suits.[ii] The next day, the US conducted a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System sending test messages to every phone and broadcasting station. [Would these even work after an EMP knocked out the grid in a preparatory strike?] So, the question: Which nation seems better prepared?
UKRAINE REPORTS – 1) “A special radio frequency being used so that Ukrainian soldiers can safely surrender to Russian forces is now chattering like never before. Thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are opting to surrender to the Russian Army.”[iii] 2) One of Putin’s chief advisors “told his boss that a ‘massive’ use of nuclear weapons” would “actually‘prevent’ World War 3 and save humanity.” He wants the UK wiped off the map.[iv] 3) Russia has announced that it will “funnel massive resources into its Ukraine offensive to fight what it calls a ‘hybrid war’ unleashed by the West, particularly the United States.”[v]
FREEDOM OF SILENCE – “The United Kingdom’s West Midland Police have dropped charges against a woman arrested in March for silently praying within an abortion facility’s ‘buffer zone.’” This is the second time the woman was arrested for silent prayer in a “buffer zone” around abortion clinics. She was acquitted on the earlier charge.[vi]
