A Dictator is driven from power & replaced by terrorists
It marks the remaking of the power structure in the Middle East
It was an unusually quick advance. Nine days, I’m told from the beginning of this latest offensive. The Syrian civil war began in earnest back in 2011. Bashar al-Assad had been President of Syria – and de-facto dictator – since he took over from his father in 2000. There were human rights abuses against enemies of the regime. [However, he was falsely accused of launching a chemical attack on his own citizens in Douma. The accusation was later found to be false but it served its’ purpose for the globalist Deep State as they used it to reverse Trump’s intention to disengage from Syria.]
It seems, Turkey had been materially involved in this latest round of attacks with its’ intelligence services enabling and assisting the rebel group, behind Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS) advance on Aleppo and Damascus. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced cooly, “Our target is Damascus.” He was claiming ownership of the operation.[i] The US too was involved in the operation providing at the least, monetary and material support. That operation chased Assad from power as he escaped to Moscow, his erstwhile sponsor and protector. Russian influence was dealt a severe blow with Assad’s fall. So, too Iran. Heavily engaged in Ukraine, Moscow was unable or unwilling to respond. Iran too, had been using Hezbollah to prop up Syria but now with Israel pounding the terror organization, neither Iran nor its’ terror proxies in the region could offer little help. The Wall Street Journal offered this explanatory headline. “Iran Suffers Blow of ‘Historic Proportions’ With Assad’s Fall” –“Tehran loses a pillar of its national-security strategy as it prepares for more confrontation with Trump.”[ii] Simply put, Iran and Russia were the losers. The US and Israel got the ‘Ws’.
So, let’s look at the victorious rebel group going by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s (HTS). It is headed by Abu Mohammad al-Julani a nom-de-guerre. His birth name is Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa. In the past he was a member of al Qaeda and al Nusra, both designated terror organization. So, is HTS. And the US had put a $10 million bounty on his head. Now, he is claiming to be a moderate working for all the people. Now, the Biden administration is trying to make nice with the new Syrian leader and there are discussions going on to take HTS off the terror list and cancel the reward for his capture. Yet al-Julani has a terrorist past and was imprisoned by American forces in Iraq for 5 years. Then there is the very name of the group he leads. Again, it is Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Al-Sham refers not just to Syria, but also parts of Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Israel.[iii] After the fall of Damascus to the rebels a video emerged which revealed the true nature of the rebel victory. The rebels celebrated by declaring that Jerusalem and the freeing of Gaza were their next targets.
These guys didn’t just appear. They were aided. Alan Barton of ANP is not the only source confirming that ISIS, al Qaeda and other rebel terror groups were “funded, armed, trained and led secretly by the USA.” [These are the groups we were fighting after 911. Both CBS & NBC ran reports about US taxpayer dollars being sent to the Taliban since Biden’s disastrous withdrawal.] Involvement by US intel operations have overthrown a number of nations over the decades. In relatively recent times we can count Libya, Afghanistan and Ukraine in 2014.[iv] But what has American policy wrought with this victory? We have replaced one brutality with another.
- Sharia Law has been declared.
- Christians are hiding or fleeing. Tens of thousands or possibly more than 100K have taken flight.
- There are reports of Christians being rounded up, shot and killed.[v]
- “Average, everyday Syrians grabbed off the street by HTS, and Machine-gunned to death in public”
- “Wounded Syrian Soldiers, in a hospital, machine-gunned to death in their hospital beds”
- “SURRENDERING Syrian Soldiers, unarmed with hands-up, machine-gunned to death”[vi]
The Regional Balance of Power Has Shifted
There exists now a perceived power vacuum in what once was Syria. And Israel and the United States have both moved to take advantage of the situation.
-
A portion of the sunken Syrian Navy Israel launched 500 airborne attacks over a two-day period.
- The entire Syrian Navy was sunk. Docking facilities were destroyed
- The IDF announced: “A wide range of targets were struck, including anti-aircraft batteries, Syrian Air Force airfields, and dozens of weapons production sites in Damascus, Homs, Tartus, Latakia, and Palmyra. Numerous strategic weapons were neutralized, including Scud missiles, cruise missiles, surface-to-sea, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missiles, UAVs, fighter jets, attack helicopters, radars, tanks, hangars, and more.”[vii]
-
B-52 in flight Israel moved “ground forces into the demilitarised buffer zone between Syria and the ….Golan Heights.”[viii]
- “US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Sunday that US forces have conducted multiple dozens of major airstrikes targeting ISIS camps and their terror camps across central Syria.” They did this “to ensure that ISIS does not seek to take advantage of the current situation to reconstitute in central Syria…. The operation struck over 75 targets using multiple U.S. Air Force assets, including B-52s, F-15s, and A-10s.”
The Prophetic Landscape
Though both the US and Turkey supported to some degree the rebel cause of overthrowing Assad, their interests have now diverged. Remember, Turkey is a member of NATO, with however some very different goals than Washington. The US has long backed the cause of the Kurds, a people that straddles the Turkish and Syrian border. This now has resulted in Turkish proxies launching attacks against American ones. As the New York Times reported, “Rebels supported by Turkish air power fired on a Kurdish-controlled city in northern Syria, pitting proxies of the U.S. and Turkey — NATO allies — against each other.”[ix]
Turkey has the most to gain from the event. It will have more freedom in solving its’ ‘Kurdish problem.’ And then there is this. Ömer Özkizilcik, wrote for the Atlantic Council: “Even though Turkey has not been directlyinvolved, its greenlight of the offensive is based on its core interests in Syria. As a result, Turkey has now positioned itself as the most influential foreign” power in Syria.[x] And what does Turkey want? Under Erdogan, it wants the complete destruction of Israel. And as we have seen, that is a goal of the HTS group now controlling Syria. Should HTS act on that goal we could see the fulfillment of Isaiah 17:1, the destruction of Damascus. “An oracle concerning Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease to be a city and will become a heap of ruins.” That would seem to come at the time of the fulfillment of the prophecy of Psalm 83, which describes a war of the inner-ring of Arab states surrounding Israel. [None of those peoples, described by their ancient names, are a part of the Gog / Magog alliance found in Ezekiel 38.]
But interestingly, Ezekiel’s prophecy is moving toward fulfillment at the same time. Return to the idea that Turkey wants to see the total annihilation of Israel. Turkey shares that goal with Iran (ancient Persia) and both are named in Ezekiel 38 as allies against Israel. The words of Alan Barton again: “Iran would need to traverse Saudi Arabia which has no chance of happening or to go through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon directly into Israel which seems why they have been obsessed with taking over that set of terrain. On the other hand, Turkey has a straight shot through Syria (which can be done in a day by armor and in less than four hours by autos) and the fall of Syria makes that not only possible but likely to happen.”[xi] We are watching world events setting up prophetic fulfillments. We are living in biblical times!
