Here’s insanity for you! There are elements in the Pentagon and the government that want to deconstruct the Russian Federation – break it into multiple parts. And they are willing to throw good money after bad to do so.
Fact: Ukraine is losing badly. Colonel Douglas MacGregor believes they lost 50,000 fighters in Bakhmut alone. As presently constituted they have no reasonable chance of mounting a successful counter offensive. The US response is to send them F16 jets. The training could take over a year. The war would be effectively over by then. So, will American or other NATO “volunteers” be pressed into service? That would be a very dangerous precedent. Another Fact: Russia recently launched a major attack with hypersonic cruise missiles. The Ukrainians fired Patriot Missiles to intercept them. Reports say just about all the missiles got through and destroyed their targets. Then a Russian missile took out the Patriot Missile battery. We are sending so many Patriots over there that in a war we “go through our inventory in a week.” And we can only manufacture 300 – 400 missiles per year.
Finally, there are some elements are starting to realize that Ukraine is losing and have started talking about a freeze with a demilitarized zone like Korea. But Russia is winning. Why would they agree to that. Colonel MacGregor believes Russia will take back the ethnically Russian areas, like Kharkov and Odessa and offer a neutralized rump Ukraine in the west. What will the US & NATO do?[i]
