I don’t want to overdramatize this or make it out to be something it is not. I was originally given this assignment by my late Pastor Fred Naedele. It is a serious charge. Sometimes I feel I am not capable or worthy of the assignment. Sometimes I feel like I cannot handle the weight of the things I know – many of which I have not communicated to my audience. Perhaps I was looking for a way out. And then the other day, my wife Cindie and I were reading in The Passion Translation. We got to Ezekiel 33. It is shared below in the New Living Translation. These verses speak for themselves.
“Now, son of man, I am making you a watchman for the people of Israel. Therefore, listen to what I say and warn them for me. If I announce that some wicked people are sure to die and you fail to tell them to change their ways, then they will die in their sins, and I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn them to repent and they don’t repent, they will die in their sins, but you will have saved yourself.” (Ezekiel 33:7-9) In this light I have no choice but to continue until I am relieved of this assignment.
