COOLING OFF….A BIT?
The run-up toward a nuclear confrontation with Russia that was going on fast and furious, especially since the beginning of September may have abated a bit. Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, one time Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, when he was Secretary of State is the source of some inside reporting. While the NEO-CONS in the administration were waving the nuclear saber at Moscow by threatening long-range missile attacks deep into Russia – and Putin was letting it be known that he would consider that to be an attack by NATO itself – and would respond accordingly – the Generals at the Pentagon were taking hold of the situation.

According to Colonel Wilkerson, it was Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin that the Department of Defense (DoD) would have none of it. Tony Blinken and Jake Sullivan can stomp their feet. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer can hold his breath. The US would NOT go along with that insanity.
Writing for ANP, James Kunstler wrote that stripping him of his executive power had made Joe Biden “furious.” He had to tell Starmer the long-range bombing of Russia was off the table for the US. But the Brits and the Ukrainians haven’t given up on that harebrained scheme. Kunstler explained. “Mr. Zelensky, the no-longer-elected leader of Ukraine was begging them to try it because Ukraine has nothing left. NATO as a whole really has nothing left, either. Not much of a combined military, scant munitions left in the cupboard, and no will to wage war among the depressed citizens of its member nations. There is nothing left except to come to terms on a settlement that will leave Ukraine not a member of NATO. The entire affair has been a humiliation for NATO and America.”[i]
HEATING UP AGAIN?
Be that as it may, the situation did not stay there. Russian President Putin announced an official change in Moscow’s Nuclear Doctrine. He was addressing the continuing threat of Ukraine using long-range weapons provided by NATO countries such as the US & the UK to strike deep into Russian territory. As reported by Reuters, Putin said: “Aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state, be considered as their joint attack on the Russian Federation.” This constitutes just an official declaration of a policy already stated since the threat of long-range attacks were made.[ii] NATO responds with massive mobilization drills.[iii] Russia also struck and destroyed as many as 5 NATO-supplied F-16s on the ground, while parked at a Ukrainian base.[iv] And, for the first time since the 1980s, China tested a long-range ICBM. They fired it in the direction of Hawaii.[v]
