ISRAEL v IRAN – Iran is under massive attack from numerous drone strikes. At least 5 Iranian provinces have been hit. The targets are “Industrial Plants, Weapons Depot, Airbase, Military buildings targeted.” Al Arabiya is reporting it as a “special military operation” against Iran, stating “The official goal of the Israeli army is the destruction of Iran’s military industry.” Early on, Iran & Russia believed the attacks came “from a NATO or NATO-Linked Country.” Azerbaijan was floated as one possibility.[i]
Shortly after, the mystery evaporated. The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel – and specifically Mossad were behind the attacks. While Iran downplayed the success of the attacks The Jerusalem Post reported that the “drone attack on Iran at Isfahan was a tremendous success, according to a mix of Western intelligence sources and foreign sources…. There were four large explosions at the military industry factory, documented on social media, against a facility developing advanced weapons.
The damage goes far beyond the “minor roof damage” that the Islamic Republic claimed earlier.”[ii] In addition, there were reports that Israeli warplanes were bombing Iranian targets in Syria and that an oil refinery had been set on fire in “northwestern Iran.” Reports are coming in that Hezbollah is massing its’ entire force for an invasion of Israel.
THE ‘SECRET’ SYRIAN WAR – The West, specifically the UK, France & the United States has been bombing Syria for years. Back in 2018 there was an incident in Douma – or perhaps there wasn’t – where Syria was accused of using chemical weapons against civilians, chlorine gas to be specific, killing 43 people in the process. The chemical watchdog group, The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) implicated Syria at the time – and again confirmed their call.[iii] I covered the situation in the Douma attack at the time.
The US and the Western Allies, just hours after the attack and before any evidence had been collected, blamed Syria – and the Syrians, along with their Russian allies immediately denied that they were responsible. A statement by the US State Department reflected the curious logic that led to that conclusion. “We continue to closely follow disturbing reports on April 7 regarding another alleged chemical weapons attack, this time targeting a hospital in Douma, Syria…. These reports, if confirmed, are horrifying and demand an immediate response.” [OK, so they are admitting that the reports are NOT confirmed. But then just a few lines later….] “The Assad regime and its backers must be held accountable and any further attacks prevented immediately.” [And then, as if that’s not enough, let’s antagonize Russia, especially now that they’ve developed hypersonic nuclear missiles for which we have no defense.] “Russia, with its unwavering support for the regime, ultimately bears responsibility for these brutal attacks.”[iv] Tucker Carlson of FOX News, speaks reason to the situation. There has not been enough time to conduct an investigation; come to a real conclusion. “We should be skeptical of this. Starting with the poison gas attack itself. All the geniuses tell us that Assad killed those children, but do they really know that?
Of course they don’t really know that. They are making it up. They have no real idea what happened.”[v] Observers have been noting that Assad had no real reason to gas attack those people. He was winning. President Trump had announced that he wanted the US to get out of Syria. Well that wouldn’t fit the Deep State agenda. Former presidential candidate Ron Paul summed it up like this. “It doesn’t make any sense for Assad under these conditions to all of a sudden use poison gasses. I think there is a zero chance he would have done this deliberately.”[vi]
Feeding into the absurdity of the situation are factors both current and past. To start with, no investigation was completed when the US, the UK, France the EU and Israel declared Assad’s government guilty. Then there is the source of the reports on the gas attacks which consists of the “rebel forces, their own media, and the ‘White Helmets,’ who are notorious for creating ‘regime change’ propaganda against the Assad government.”[vii] Then there is the history. Syrian forces have been fingered before for gas attacks – and retaliation taken. In 2013, the Obama administration “cherry picked” evidence to create the impression that Assad’s troops were responsible for a chemical attack that was likely carried out by al-Nusra, a rebel group associated with al-Qaeda.
So, why is this all important now? Because of how and why it involves policy decisions among the Western Allies that have killed thousands of innocent Syrians. So, the claim, advanced by the OPCW, justifies again the attacks on Syria. But we have to understand, that this was the event to bring the UK into the campaign against the Syrians. Clayton Morris of Redacted explains how the chemical bombing was used to get the UK to join France and the US “in bombing the hell out of Syria and destroying this country. This is the same watchdog group that had whistleblowers leave and accuse them of a coverup to justify Washington’s war on Syria.” The mainstream media has been silent on this part of the story.
The Syrians were for the most part Ba’athists, promoters of Secular Arab Nationalism. Left to its’ own devices, Syria is a country that is open to all religions. Here’s Gowan again.
That Arab Super State would be a direct threat to US hegemony in the region. It would be the Arabs that would control the flow of oil. So, it is the United States government acting on behalf of – and at the behest of Big Oil, Big Business in general that is behind the bombings. So, Washington uses its’ military might and its’ power to sanction to clear the way for the Wall Street interests. In the process they are “ripping Syria to shreds and backing al-Nusra, which is the al-Qaeda backed government opposition….So, the US aligns with religious extremists in order to topple governments they don’t like. Yes, the United States has been funding and supporting al-Qaeda in Syria for years.”[viii] It’s a pretty dark road we are traveling.
UKRAINE – It’s down to decision time in the war in Ukraine. The signals coming out of the Western Allies are decidedly mixed. Zelensky is desperate to get more arms to launch an offensive before the Russians launch their own offensive in the Spring. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin agreed that the window is narrowing for such action. The Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer of the Netherlands, told an interviewer NATO was “ready to take on Russia.” The allies are creating 4 new battle groups in the lands bordering on Russia and the Ukraine. Commitments have been made for delivery of tanks and armor but much of the equipment is old and in need of repair. Admiral Bauer: “We are ready….if the Russians cross the line in NATO.” But then he also said that the Western economies would have to ramp up for wartime production. The fact is, Germany and the US do not have enough tanks to supply Ukraine right now – and they don’t have the production capacity to change that in the near-term.
Now, some of the allies are getting cold feet. Austria and Hungary have announced that they will not be sending any more weapons to Ukraine in order “to prevent a further escalation.” And now the Pentagon connected and financed RAND Corporation, a think tank that presages many policy decisions, is saying that the “war in Ukraine needs to end sooner rather than later.”[ix] [x] The Washington Post, with close ties to the CIA may have just signaled the US is ready for a compromise. In an opinion piece, it gave “the impression that the US would admit Russian control over Crimea, Donbass, Zaporozhye, and Kherson – ‘the land bridge that connects Crimea and Russia’ – as a fait accompli. Ukraine would have a demilitarized status, and the deployment of HIMARS missiles and Leopard and Abrams tanks would be confined to western Ukraine, kept as a ‘deterrent against further Russian attacks.’” The article seemed to offer a partition of Ukraine with a demilitarized zone, all of this in exchange for Russia agreeing to cancel its’ coming offensive which could cut off Ukrainian access to the Black Sea and possibly “cutting off the supply of NATO weapons across the Polish border.” Of course, Ukraine would not be part of NATO.
