This was more than just another election in a foreign nation. This was part of a high-stakes game being played out on the World stage. Obama’s influence was on the table. The reputation of a president was wagered against the survivability of a nation – the nation of God’s chosen people. Over 200 operatives had been sent over to work the electorate for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s left-leaning opponent. At their head was the architect of President Obama’s successful 2008 re-election campaign. Glen Beck reports that the State Department sent American taxpayer dollars. And in the run-up to the election it all seemed to be working. Just days before the election, Bibi was trailing in the polls. Obama’s left leaning, pro-Arab, pro-Iranian foreign policy was poised to chalk up a major victory; the removal of the troublesome Prime Minister of Israel. Then, just days before the election, the PM tacked right, promising no Palestinian State on his watch.[i] And the President saw victory snatched from his hands.
Netanyahu’s Likud Party won 29 or 30 seats in the Israeli parliament called the Knesset – 5 or 6 more than its rival, the center-left Zionist Union. He should now be able to form a government that will lean to the right, with additional support from the religious parties and the center.[ii] This will mean that Israel will continue to voice opposition to administration plans to cave in to the Iranians nuclear demands. It will that they will not be pushed into a two state solution that would weaken Israel’s strategic security. This of course has brought hand-wringing on the Left and in the American mainstream media. One CBS reporter characterized the Netanyahu victory as a “tough break” for the President, as if that was the major concern in the matter. [Never mind that the White House is desperately trying to push Israel into severely compromised position by effectively allowing Iran to reach the break-out point in nuclear technology. And never forget that Iran has consistently called for the elimination of the Jewish state.] Lester Holt of NBC wrung his hands at the prospect that this American foreign policy in the region is now left “teetering on the brink.” Charles Krauthammer explained the Left’s despair. “Obama loathes Netanyahu more than any other world leader meaning more than the Ayatollah in Iran or Putin in Russia. And he did everything he could to unseat him but he failed. I think the message here is this was an election between Bibi and Obama.” The President’s all-out effort to unseat the Prime Minister had failed utterly.[iii]
Now in his petulance and pettiness, Obama is going one farther. Instead of a slow drift away from the traditional pro-Israeli American foreign policy that has been practiced since the inception of modern Israel in 1948, the President is signaling he may be willing to force the issue and attempt to force the formation of a Palestinian State on terms demanded by the Arabs. As reported by the Jerusalem Post and the New York Times, “the Obama administration is now seriously considering agreeing to the passage of a United Nations Security Council resolution ‘embodying the principles of a two-state solution that would include Israel’s 1967 borders with Palestine.’”[iv] The historical protection that the US has always offered Israel at the UN would be gone. And so I fear would be the protection offered the United States for the support that it has always afforded God’s Chosen People. As for a future Palestinian State: It is a doomed enterprise. Isaiah 34 deals with the judgment of Edom in the Last Days. Now according to many scholars, the Edomites are the modern day Palestinians. David Bay of Cutting Edge Ministries draws a direct line from Esau as the father of the Edomites to today’s Palestinians. This is confirmed by the leading Orthodox Jewish scholars.[v] After the Jewish Revolt against the Romans in 135 AD, the Jews were scattered to the four corners of the earth. [The re-gathering did not begin in earnest until late in the 19th century.] Chuck Missler tells us that after those events: “The Edomites, subsequently known as Idumeans, be-came assimilated into the ‘Palestinians’ of today. The “tents of Edom” featured in Psalm 83 appear as refugee camps in the propaganda of the Palestine Authority today.”[vi] With that by way of background, here’s what God gave the Prophet Isaiah on the matter. “They shall call its nobles to the kingdom, But none shall be there, and all its princes shall be nothing.” (Isaiah 34:12) That same message is driven home in Obadiah 1:18. “The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau shall be stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau.” The Palestinian State shall end up as an empty shell – because God Himself has ordained and claimed that Land for His People.
