The March 22nd terror attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall by four gunmen has severely ratcheted up tensions between on the one hand – the US & NATO supporting Ukraine – against the forces of the Russian Federation. As many as 143 civilians may have been killed in the attack with over 200 wounded. The shooters were from the former Soviet Republic of Tajikistan. The four suspects were arrested as they were apparently attempting to escape into Ukraine. We know they were Muslims who engaged in a “highly coordinated military style assault.” The United States blamed ISIS-K, or Islamic State Khorasan, which includes parts of Iran, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. ISIS-K later claimed responsibility for the attack. So, it should have ended there. ISIS-K had previously engaged in attacks against Russia. But it’s a bit more complicated than that.
From Natural News: “Earlier this month, the US issued a warning to its citizens in Russia, urging them to avoid public places and mass gatherings due to ‘extremists’ having imminent plans for an attack in Moscow. Several other embassies followed suit.” There are however, conflicting reports regarding whether the terror warning was shared with Moscow. Afterward, Washington claimed they “had no specific ‘advance knowledge’ of Friday’s shooting.” In addition, one of the attackers was found to be “a former Ukrainian soldier who served in 2022.”[i] [ii] So, you have a situation wherein an ISIS entity has claimed responsibility – however the gunmen have ties to Ukraine – and most alarming of all – Russia is now publicly convinced that Ukraine, the US and the United Kingdom are involved in the attack.
Aleksandr Bortnikov, who runs Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), believes US, UK and Ukraine may have been behind the Moscow-area terror attack. Hal Turner reports: “When asked whether the US, Britain and Ukraine could be behind the terrorist attack, the FSB chief responded: ‘We think that this is so.’”[iii] Gilbert Doctorow is a Brussels-based international political analyst who specializes in Russia-watching. Doctorow asserts, “the FSB statement implicating the US and UK governments in the Crocus attack had to have been approved by Putin and that implicating the US and UK in the Crocus attack has brought us to the level of danger of the Cuban Missile Crisis.”[iv] In an interview on Indian TV revealed what he believed to be the scenario. Last February two of the assailants were trained in Istanbul, Turkey – a NATO country by the way.
HTR reports that retired special services Colonel Bakhtiyer Rakhmonov alleges: “A few weeks before the terrorist attack, information appeared on the website of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission about inviting foreigners to join the so-called ‘International Legion,’” According to Colonel Rakhmonov, “The ambassador of the Ukrainian embassy in Dushanbe is the ex-head of the foreign intelligence service, and the consulate itself was looking for perpetrators a few weeks before the terrorist attack, publishing an order to hire assassins openly on the page of the Embassy of Ukraine in Tajikistan.” The notice was subsequently taken down.[v] The attack was originally supposed to have been launched on March 8th, Russia’s Women’s Day, and just a week or so prior to the Russian elections. Conditions did not warrant an attack then as Russian security was in place that would have guaranteed the failure of the effort. Victoria Nuland, a long-time player in US foreign policy, a hawk and a force behind many interventionist military actions, including very likely the destruction of the Nord Stream Pipeline, was fired for what he believed was mission failure. Doctorow then believes the Ukrainians went forward with the attack anyway – after the original date – and without US approval.[vi] In a late-breaking development, Russian investigators claimed to have discovered “‘substantiated evidence’ that the perpetrators of the attack received funding from Ukraine in the form of cryptocurrency, which was then used to prepare the attack.” The Russian Investigative Committee that the suspects were linked to “Ukrainian nationalists” and had received a significant sum from Ukraine.[vii]
The key take-away from all of this is now Russia and Putin believe that the US is behind the attack. And so, things are heating up at an accelerated rate. Gilbert Doctorow is reporting that Russian television commentary has turned “very violent with talk of flattening Kharkiv and Kiev and bringing a quick end to the conflict.”[viii] Here are some of the latest developments:
- “Poland has invoked a law passed in 2022, for Compulsory Military Service.”[ix]
- President Putin went on Russian TV to clarify the situation. He called the West’s fear of a Russian invasion of Europe “nonsense.” He went on to make four salient points regarding the current situation.
-
- 1. Russia has no intention of fighting NATO;
- Falsifications about a possible attack on Poland, the Baltic states and the Czech Republic are a way to deceive the population of these countries;
- Russia will destroy F-16s in Ukraine in the same way as it destroys Western tanks and other equipment;
- If F-16s are used against the Russian Armed Forces from airfields in third countries, then these airfields will become a legitimate target for the Russian Federation.”
-
- Of course, this latter fact could become a flash point if F-16s are launched from NATO countries like Poland or Romania. Ukrainian airfields are pocked-up by Russian bombing and the F-16’s have some trouble with landings and take-offs in those conditions. Should Ukrainian planes launch and land from a NATO country – and then Russia respond by attack those airfields – would that trigger NATO Article 5 – and compel all NATO nations to go to war with Russia?
- Troops from Belarus, a Russian ally, are now deploying in force on their border with Lithuania and Poland.
- German NATO Forces are setting up shop in Lithuania near the border with Belarus.[x]
- In an admission of the dire nature of the situation, the London Times published an editorial acknowledging the fact that given the current situation, the fall of Kyiv is all but The purpose of the opinion piece was to advance the cause of more aid for Ukraine. But the recognition of the current state of affairs is unique in Western media. The editorial was titled: “It’s Time We Talk About the Fall of Kiev.”[xi]
“And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, [b]pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
