Candidate Trump promised to bring back American jobs – and in unprecedented fashion, the President Elect is already making good on that promise. A Trump Tweet announced that Ford had changed its mind about moving 5,000 jobs from Louisville to Mexico. The company confirmed the Trump announcement.[i] Then came Carrier. The Indiana plant was set to move – but a little ‘persuasion’ and some tax relief convinced them to stay, saving about 1,100 jobs. But of course, the mainstream media is loathe to give Trump any credit. Here’s a headline from the Los Angeles Times. “Trump says he saved American jobs, but he hasn’t shown how he can turn the victory into policy.” [Actually though, he has spelled it out. The policy is a significantly lower corporate tax rate. That’s the formula he’s using to entice Ford and Carrier.]
