RETALIATION IS NO LONGER JUST A THREAT. THE US HAS BEGUN TO LAUNCH RETALIATORY ATTACKS AGAINST IRANIAN ASSETS AND AFFILIATED MILITIAS IN IRAQ AND SYRIA.
You could say that this current round of escalation began back in October of 2023 when Iranian-backed militias began ramping up their drone and rocket attacks against American bases in the region. They were targeting American facilities in both Syria and Iraq. Governments in those countries consider American bases there to be illegal.
Though well over 100 attacks were launched they caused no fatal American casualties. That changed however when three American soldiers were killed by drone attack. Almost immediately the US promised a response. That response came on February 2nd.
FOX News reported: “U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that airstrikes were conducted against more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups. Shortly after the attacks were confirmed, President Joe Biden warned ‘If you harm an American, we will respond.’” According to CENTCOM, American “forces conducted airstrikes on more than 85 targets in Iraq and Syria against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups. The 85 targets included command and control operations, intelligence centers, militia group’s rockets, missiles, unmanned vehicle storages and supply chain facilities.”[i]
Figures from the Iraqi and Syrian governments claim nearly 40 people have died in the strikes including some civilians. Hal Turner reports that there are retaliatory rocket attacks being launched against the American bases in the CONOCO oil fields and Deir ez-Zor, both in Syria. There were plumes of smoke rising from the CONOCO base in the aftermath of the rocket attacks.
The Pentagon has indicated that this is just the beginning. There are more attacks coming and they will be meted out over an extended period of time. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced: “This is the start of our response. The President has directed additional actions to hold the IRGC and affiliated militias accountable for their attacks on U.S. and Coalition Forces. As the attacks began, militias deployed in eastern Syria, began issuing orders “to personnel on the borders between Syria and Iraq to vacate the border points immediately….Iran has placed its entire armed forces on high alert, activated its surface-to-air defense systems, and deployed ballistic missiles along the Iraqi border.” Turner reports that CENTCOM has confirmed that the Israeli Air Force participated in the attacks. And this first round of sorties seemed to have made their mark. Turner: “. There are ongoing and huge secondary explosions on both sides of the Syria/Iraq border which suggest big rocket/missile depots have been hit.”[ii]
We can expect a robust Iranian response. Before the attacks occurred, the US used the “Swiss Embassy in Tehran, to warn Iran and ask them not to retaliate after the anticipated US attacks. Iran warned the United States: ‘if there is even the slightest attack on Iranian soil, with or without human casualties, Iran will respond with force to the US militarily.’”[iii]
After this first around of attacks, one Iraqi militia seemed to back off an earlier aggressive position. “Hussein al-Mosawi, spokesperson for Harakat al-Nujaba, one of the main Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, in an interview with the Associated Press in Baghdad condemned the U.S. strikes, saying Washington ‘must understand that every action elicits a reaction.’ But he then struck a more conciliatory tone, saying that ‘we do not wish to escalate or widen regional tensions.’”[iv]
While Iran does support many militia groups in the region, as of this writing there is no direct evidence that Iran was behind the attacks on the US base. Clayton Morris pointed out in Redacted: “The Pentagon continues to insist that Iran was behind the attacks without giving proof. Iran has denied this but the U.S. is still indicating that it will target Iran. Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said that the US would carry out ‘a tiered approach … not just a single action, but potentially multiple actions.’” As a number of analysts have pointed out, a conflict with Iran would be a major step-up in weight class. The Iranians are not the Iraqis, or Afghanis or the Houthis in Yemen. And yet even these relatively minor-league forces all created their problems. For one thing, Tehran has precision-guided missiles. Scott Ritter believes the US does not have enough missiles to protect the American bases in the region.[v]
There has been a growing push for war among Washington Neo-Cons and not just among American forces. Even while the fight against Hamas in Gaza continues, the Israelis are getting set to launch an attack across their northern frontier on Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Large numbers of IDF troops have been deployed to the northern border and Israeli Defense Minister Gallant announced that “the war with Hezbollah will start soon.” Israel’s recent forays into Lebanon have not gone well. Hezbollah is well prepared and trained and are believed to possess over 160,00 missiles and rockets. Hezbollah is expected to launch massive attacks in response against not only the IDF and civilian targets in Israel but also against American bases in the region. Israel’s justice ministry issued this warning. “In the event of a full-scale war in the north – prepare for the possibility of a nationwide blackout where at least 60% of the population will be without electricity for at least 24 hours, and there will be disruptions in communication, internet, and telephone.” They also advised to be prepared with emergency stocks of food, water and medicine as banks and grocery stores will likely be interrupted as well as public transportation. [vi] Israel is on the verge of expanding the war into Lebanon.
Admittedly, the overall dynamic of American foreign policy has been one of confrontation and conflict. To a large degree, the Pentagon and the Washington establishment – the “Military Industrial Complex,” if you will, has hijacked the economic and martial power of the country to service the goals and agendas of the Globalist Elite that is seeking to construct a New World Order. We conduct wars now, not to advance or protect the real interests of American citizens, but rather to fill the coffers and advance the influence and authority of the Cabal. The Neo-Cons that sit in Washington seem to want any war they can find. They want to fight Russia over Ukraine. They are happy to fight to the last Ukrainian, yet now they are preparing – or at least talking openly – about getting ready to fight the Russians. European governments are issuing warnings of that coming conflict. And of course, these same Neo-Cons want a fight with Tehran. And there has been an almost-simultaneous chorus of “Bomb, bomb, bomb, – bomb, bomb Iran.”
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin justified American attacks against Iranian targets. “How much Iran knew or didn’t know, we don’t know. But it really doesn’t matter because Iran sponsors these groups.”[vii] We have some 30,000 troops stationed in the Middle East. They are there to project power. There is no overriding national interest at stake. And I’ve heard more than one commentator refer to them as “bait.” Bait, placed there by the war-hungry Neo-Cons; a sacrificial lamb to draw us into war.
Matthew 24:4-8 – “And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
