The build-up continues on both sides of the Ukraine Question. The US and at least some of NATO want freedom to stage missiles in Ukraine, 5 minutes from Moscow. Russia continues to move its’ chess pieces in place; nuclear subs in American waters, reportedly missiles in Cuba and Venezuela and lots of troops and armor near the border.
- Biden warns Ukrainian President Zelensky that the Russians can be expected to invade in February.[i]
- Zelensky tells Biden to cool it. He knows the situation better because he’s there. Not worried.[ii]
- While the US and Britain and a few others are posturing for war, Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France are conducting talks regarding the fate of Ukraine’s two breakaway provinces of Luhansk and Dontetsk.[iii]
- NATO seems badly split on taking on the Russians over what some see as very reasonable security guarantees that are sought by Moscow.
- BOMBSHELL Headline: “Russian Duma To Consider Appeal from Luhansk & Donetsk Oblasts for Recognition as ‘Independent States’” (The Duma is the equivalent of the US Congress.) The two provinces declared their independence from Ukraine after a 2014 referendum. Here’s the story from Hal Turner Radio. “A gigantic legal maneuver by the breakaway states of Luhansk and Donetsk is scheduled for February 14, when the Russia Duma …takes up the request for those oblasts (states) to be recognized as ‘Independent.’ If the Duma agrees, the two oblasts could request Russian troops to protect them from Ukraine and from NATO.” Should that happen, “Ukraine and NATO would flatly refuse to accept this. Yet, once the legalities are done by the Duma, it would be Russia’s position that those two territories are no longer Ukraine and thus it would be perfectly lawful for Russian troops to be in those places if asked to do so by those now-independent states. Ergo, no ‘invasion’ of Ukraine! At that point, if Ukraine or NATO try to use force to keep Luhansk or Donetsk in Ukraine, then Russian troops inside those places will have been ‘attacked’ and thus Russia could defend itself.”[iv]
- Russia has been jamming GPS signals in Israeli airspace to defend against Israeli airstrikes against Syria. The jamming is affecting civilian airline traffic. Russia is refusing to stop.[v]
- Australia’s largest warship was crippled by a power failure on aid mission to Tonga. Steve Quayle points out that the SS Cook US Missile Cruiser was also shut down by Electronic Warfare weapons.[vi]
- The Biden Regime has announced the deployment of an additional 3,000 troops to Poland & Germany, with another 8,500 ready to deploy. [Not much against the 100,000 Russians already deployed.]
- But in another development, perhaps the US is beginning to soften in its’ hard stance in a war it seems fated to lose. Spanish media is reporting that the US & NATO has sent letters to Putin offering to deescalate the crisis in Ukraine. According to the Daily Mail, “Putin was offered a deal to keep missiles out of Ukraine and renegotiate Cold War-era weapons treaties in return for withdrawing his troops…. The US suggested in letters that Russian inspectors can gain access to NATO bases in Romania and Poland (pictured above) to guarantee that no Tomahawk missiles are being stationed there. Comes as Pentagon announces 2,000 troops will deploy to Poland and Romania…. Both letters clearly state that Ukraine will not be banned from joining NATO, and make no reference to Russia’s demand that all forces are withdrawn from ex-Soviet states.”[vii]
- Hal Turner Radio Headline: “Russian Ambassador To UN: Kiev has only itself to blame for its impending destruction.” The Ambassador told the UN Security Council, “Ukraine’s continued refusal to implement the Minsk Peace Agreements, means Kiev has only itself to blame for its impending destruction.” Pretty strong words! The HTR article went on. “The conflict began in 2014 after the events of the Maidan, when violent street protests toppled the democratically elected government in Ukraine. This eventually led to the two self-proclaimed republics of Donetsk (DPR) and Lugansk (LPR) declaring independence, a move recognized by neither Moscow nor Kiev.” The Minsk Agreements were to “provide for direct dialogue” with the two breakaway provinces. The Ambassador warned that Ukraine is in danger of destroying itself.[viii]
