Ezekiel, chapters 38 & 39 describe an End Times invasion of Israel using the ancient names. The players are clear, even after about 2,600 years; Russia / Turkey, Iran, some of the former Islamic Soviet Republics. But note however, that Syria, Egypt and the Palestinians are pointedly missing! Yet we know from Micah 5, Isaiah 19, Ezekiel 31 and Obadiah that these nations will suffer devastating defeat after they come against God’s people in the end times. Many prophecy scholars have concluded that there will be a prior war in which Israel will be facing this inner-ring of Arab / Islamic nations: Syria, Egypt, and now Hamas and Hezbollah – and the Palestinians. After that, there will be a time of peace, after which Israel will face the infamous Gog-Magog invasion.
Well, that alliance of Russia, Turkey and Iran (Persia in the ancient texts) is starting to form up.) Turkey, though an ally of NATO – and therefore supposedly committed to the West, has been distancing itself from the US for some time now. In addition that nation has been going through an Islamization process that has swept away the openness of a Western-leaning culture. Now Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is bashing Biden for his remarks regarding Putin. The Turks have been playing a two-faced game telling Washington one thing – and Russia and Iran quite another. According to Seth J Frantzman, writing in The Jerusalem Post, “The messaging from Ankara is that Russia and Turkey are growing together as allies and partners. They work together in Syria, Libya and the Caucasus; their goal is to supplant US influence and divide up many areas of the Middle East between themselves.” He goes on. “ Iran, Turkey and Russia have worked together in the Astana process since 2017 to manage Syria – and they exclude the US…. Turkey wants more trade with Iran via rail links and also wants to work with Tehran in other ways. From Russia, Ankara wants more S-400s and military hardware.”[i] This is an alliance that’s forming. And it is one that is setting up the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Exciting times, these.
