What is it about Christmas time that leads some to despair? All the merriment adds to the misery of the already joyless soul; making him or her feel all the sadder and isolated. The number of people struggling with depression rises rapidly every year. Factoring into the equation may be divorce, family problems, finances, illness or the death of a loved one. Just living in this fast paced, device-driven world can bring on anxiety! So much has changed in the last 50 years. Progress moves full speed ahead, as sinful man moves further away from the God who sustains him.
Depression is the by-product of having no hope. People lose hope over time by putting their faith in temporal things; which will eventually disappoint because they can’t last. Joy on the other hand, is the by-product of having hope! We can have hope when our faith rests in the everlasting God, whose incomprehensible love will never disappoint because He is eternal!
This God has come to us as Jesus Christ, the babe in a manger, whose mission was to save mankind from the horrifying penalty of sin and death. That mission’s been accomplished! He’s paid the price once and for all by shedding His blood and dying on the Cross in our place! Jesus came to set us free from our sin so we can forever be united with God!
Don’t miss out on knowing Jesus Christ and what He’s done for you! Read John 3 and ask Christ to be your Savior. Your entire life will be transformed! Chains of bondage will drop to the floor! You’ll know why you’re here and where you’re going!
When we truly identify with the sacrifice Christ made on our behalf, we will see the great value God has placed upon us. With such value, we know we have purpose. And a life with purpose in Jesus Christ is a life filled with joy forever more!
