“So they left all the commandments of the Lord their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal. And they caused their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and soothsaying, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger. Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel, and removed them from His sight; there was none left but the tribe of Judah alone.” (2Kings 17:16-18)
America is playing with fire: Specifically the wrath of God. In Maryland, Democrat State Senator William Smith has proposed a bill that would allow babies to be killed up to 28 days after birth. Attorney Olivia Summers of the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) wrote, “[T]he bill also proposes a revision of the fetal murder/manslaughter statute that would serve to handcuff the investigation of infant deaths unrelated to abortion….”In other words, a baby born alive and well could be abandoned and left to starve or freeze to death. Nothing could be done to punish those who participated in that cruel death.” The proposed Maryland law uses but does not define the term “perinatal death.” However a Maryland law does define ‘perinatal care’ as the ‘provision of care during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum and neonatal periods.’ A definition on MedicineNet, a website owned by WebMD, defines it as ‘the 20th to 28th week of gestation’ to ‘1 to 4 weeks after birth.’”[i]
Not to be outdone, California is considering Assembly Bill 2223 which also would “restrict the investigation and reporting of infant deaths and could effectively legalize infanticide.” Similar to the proposed Maryland statute, “the bill could be interpreted to immunize a pregnant person from all criminal penalties for all pregnancy outcomes, including the death of a newborn for any reason during the ‘perinatal’ period after birth, including a cause of death which is not attributable to pregnancy complications.”[ii]
