It’s nothing that should surprise anybody or send anyone into shock. The Pentagon has a secret budget for investigating UFOs. No big deal I think, if a bit disingenuous, considering the semi-official policy of pooh-poohing all-things-ET-related. The New York Times revealed the program – and other outlets around the globe have picked up on the story. The program has been officially shut down since 2012 but the investigations into suspicious incidents continue. Among its areas of interest, the program studied the encounters reported by military pilots during the course of their duties. Tapes exist of multiple pilots observing the same phenomenon at the same time and conversing about it. The times reported “footage from a Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet showing an aircraft surrounded by some kind of glowing aura traveling at high speed and rotating as it moves. The Navy pilots can be heard trying to understand what they are seeing. ‘There’s a whole fleet of them.’” – one pilot exclaims![i]
This isn’t in anyway oddball stuff, as much as some may try to make it out to be that way. Even among former NASA astronauts, the belief in an alien presence is not that out of the ordinary. Those of us of a certain age remember Mercury Astronaut Gordon Cooper. He talked about seeing alien spacecraft on a number of occasions, the first time being in 1951 while he was posted in Germany. Years later he told the UN, “I did have occasion in 1951 to have two days of observation of many flights of them, of different sizes flying in fighter formation, generally from west to east over Europe. They were at a higher altitude than we could reach with our jet fighters.”[ii] Edgar Mitchell flew as part of the Apollo 14 crew in 1971. Dr Mitchell was convinced that the Roswell incident involved ‘real’ alien craft, and that alien’s had on occasion, temporarily disabled Cold War era nuclear missiles at certain sites. This latter claim was backed up by at least seven former Air Force officers in 2010. Captain Robert Salas described one such of event that happened in 1967 at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana. “The missiles shut down – ten Minuteman [nuclear] missiles. And the same thing happened at another site a week later. There’s a strong interest in our missiles by these objects, wherever they come from. I personally think they’re not from planet Earth.”[iii] Finally, there’s physics professor, Dr Brian O’Leary of Princeton and NASA. Selected for a mission to mars that never took off, Dr O’Leary believes, “There is abundant evidence that we are being contacted. Civilizations have been monitoring us for a very long time and that their appearance is bizarre from any type of traditional materialistic Western point of view.”[iv]
But all of this will leave hardly a ripple in modern thought, conditioned as we are to belief in an alien presence from other planets / solar systems / galaxies. We have been acclimatized to that way of thinking with Hollywood leading the way with its barrage of dozens of films released in the last decades. I heard one comment, from one who’ll remain a nameless / mindless talking head, who faced with the question of alien life said something to this affect. ‘Well, with most people not believing in God, this gives us the best and most reasonable explanation about our ultimate origins.’ [We can start with his erroneous assumption, that most people – especially in America – don’t believe in God….and take it from there.] The sad part is I think he may be somewhat right about people’s readiness to accept a non-deistic explanation for existence. (Of course, that will always beg the ultimate question: ‘Then where did the dang ETs come from? No one ever seems to answer that one!) So the question is this: Are we being set up? Has the culture been preparing us to throw off all of our ‘Old Time Religions’ and embrace a new ‘creation myth’ based on a connection to these new gods come from beyond our galaxy? If anything could move us into a newly crafted ‘reality,’ might it not be this connection to these star-gods? Could this – somehow combined with the drive toward a new, universal religious understanding, (promoted as it is by the Vatican) – serve as the basis for the One World Religion of Revelation? The question then becomes: Is there anything to all of this? I think that the answer may be: Much indeed! But it will not be the reality the world believes. It will be a ‘reality’ steeped in the occult, connected to the demonic, and tied in with the prophecies linking the End of the Age to the return of the Nephilim. We’ve not the room to take this up this now. But this will serve as an intro to the subject when we explore it later.
